Hello leaguemate :)

i still thought this is an attractive package for $36,000 salary, but then i noticed further his shooting pct. was quite poor, below 40%. hmm, maybe not such a good judge of talent?

Did he have a high foul rate? What day and time did the player's auction end? I don't think he's that bad, either.

so, here's the question: is there a consensus about optimum ratio of JS to JR and IS?

It depends on the offense you run and the division + league you're in. A 3-point shooting team might want guard with 15-17 JS, 12-14 JR, and 8 IS in D3. A team that plays LI/LP may want a guard with 15 JS, 9 JR, and 10 IS.

would a JS 12, IS 10, and JR 10 produce a more effective shooter than the current JS 17, IS 7 and JR 8?

Overall, the 17 JS guy should shoot better on jumpers in general. The 12 JS guy would be more cost effective, but would brick jumpers against a guard with 13+ OD.

He's 32yo. His skills will start decreasing soon. Plus this is the moment of the season when demand is lowest, rosters are stable and there is no high demand for playoffs yet. His shooting % shouldn't be taken face value, shooting %s depend a lot on which division the player is currently playing. If he shoots 40% in division IV, ok, you might have a problem, shooting 40% in division I can be a decent number since he's facing elite defenders.
