But for new player startup and retention, it's very poor. It will increase the incentive to tank (and thus likely increase the number of experienced teams tanking). This will then place new players at an even greater disadvantage, since there will be more experienced players in the bottom division and thus increase the chances that a newer team will be roadblocked by an experienced team who's ready to re-promote.

Extending the salary floor exemption but with a gradual phaseout would help new teams more, though I don't exactly have a great sense of how a "reasonable" phaseout would work or how you would communicate that to teams.

Apologies if I didn't explain properly.

Currently there is no salary floor for the first 24 weeks. My suggestion is that there should be one. If there was one it would incentivize me to buy players and be more competitive. However, this initial salary floor I'm suggesting should be below the full salary floor (that players that have player more than 24 weeks pay).

To compensate, so that new players will still have enough money to invest, the period where they would pay this reduced salary floor would be extended from 24 weeks (would have to work the math to see how much it should be extended to), so that they can still have enough money to invest and be on par with new players that started playing before this change.
My suggestion would only affect new players and shouldn't affect me for example that has already benefited from not buying players.

This would help with the retention of new players in my opinion as most (from what I see) already go and buy some players. Then when they realize that they need to invest money in arena etc it would be a bit too late.

If you'd like me to expand a bit further let me know. Can try and add some numbers etc.

Here are my five cents...

I can understand from BB's point of view about this (increase the salary floor for new users) being a good idea to "force" managers (specially the ones on the secound group) to compete from an early stage, but in my opinion, BBs have already done a lot to make this happen and it's not benefitial for all managers.
This is a slow game and forcing it to speed up will also mean the loss of those who want to play it slowly.

For me, there is nothing wrong on teams spending real years to accumulate as much money as possible. Everyone should decide how to play the game.
