Average staff expenses were relatively high last season (over $50k) and average merch wasn't great, in the low $100k range.
The power of the L&HG bonus and merch infrastructure is really noticeable at higher division levels

Oh so me being broke and only getting $263/week there is not a good sign?

My merch is 20-25% higher than league average with a 100% USA roster (but only 1 HG draftee) trained mostly from 18 yos. My problem has always been the cost of using high level trainers and training facilities is very bad for the bank account unless 1) you have a massive bankroll to start with, 2) you're winning a lot and maxing out match income, or 3) you're making deep runs in the Cup/BBM.
I've never gone down the "cash out on my trainees and pad my bankroll" route so even after 11 years playing this game I'm still always on the edge.

I haven’t been competitive in D.2 since season 8 or so, I’m kinda nervous this go around. Hoping to see if I can even manage to stay up while training an NT prospect. It appears im well below league avg team salary. Not a good sign for me.

Having young trainees can be helpful especially in the second half of a season. To some degree, you have to spend money to make money in D.2. They tricky part is spending the right amount. You just have to be mindful of the salary implications of your training in the long run.

I've been playing this game for 11+ years and I don't think I've ever seen a situation where the starting 5 players for the All-star team in one conference came from the same team. Especially in Division 2 or the NBBA.

How to hack the ASG voting:
1. Don't train
2. Always play your starters at the same position
3. Have your starters noticeably better than the backups
4. Play Let Coach Decide so the starters get ~40 minutes
5. Don't blow teams out (winning is optional)
6. Have starters that are very high rating relative to other every game starters at the same position in the conference
7. Play fast pace to roll in the points (optional: play FCP to really run up the scoreboard)
