However, a middle-ish height player is much more trainable to be a SF, because 7'5" players are terrible at training outside skills and vice versa for the short guys. As Astragoth has pointed out, the training speed loss is probably not that much considering you could train a much more rounded and potentially more useful player because their skills would be so much more varied and therefore could help your team in more areas. That's my view anyway. They're still awkward to train because of the training options not allowing you to train SF on their own but only with another position.

Wouldn't the fact that a middling-height player trains more slowly at both outside and inside skill subsets mean that you're better off training a taller or shorter player, since they will at least gain skill quickly in one or the other subset? GM-kozlodoev's numbers show a definite difference in training based on only a few inches of height, so isn't it possible that a 6' 6" guy would be at least that far behind much taller or much shorter players in both subsets? Since height has no bearing on gameplay, there's no advantage to having a 6' 6" or 6' 8" SG anyway.

My experience that over 1 season of 3-skill training, a 6'9 center was exactly 1 level behind in all three skills, as compared to a 7'4 center.

I'm just going to try training the guy and see what happens. I'm not training inside skills much in any case. If all I lose is 5% he'll turn out fine. Unfortunately, I haven't been playing long enough to have real data to review.

Yes, in fact it's the truth. But would you want your massive 7'5" superstar C with great stats in IS, ID and R but not much else playing SF? Similarly, your SG with just great skills in JS, JR and OD? I'm not saying that the middle height players would make great inside-only or outside-only focused positions, I'm saying that they would strike a decent balance and probably do well as a trainable SF, and I think the SF position can be a very valuable position to look to strengthen if you do it properly.
