Upon further study, it would appear that there are tall players (see Dirk Nowitzki) that can shoot. I guess this is the sort of mistake that happens when we design jump shot training during the playoffs. :)

Ouch!

9) We will impose a transfer deadline shortly before the playoffs. Teams will still be allowed to buy and sell players as much as they would like, but these players will be ineligible to play during the playoffs.

I think this is a great move. Should make the transfer market quite interesting right before the deadline as teams scramble to bolster for the playoffs.

Yeah this is a good move. Plus, I love bolstering things!

When players with salary ] $4500/week are on teams that due to inactivity/ban/etc. become bot teams, those players will be released to the transfer list and will stay in the game. The salary threshhold will increase over time. This is the only change that will take place immediately.

Two questions:-

1. Will players with a salary <$4500 only be released on a team becoming a bot team or will existing bot teams release these players as there are a number of high salary players trapped in existing bot teams?

2. If players from existing bot teams are to be released will this be controlled in waves or will they hit the market all at once?

Jumping the gun but if the players could be wave released by country it might make it interesting for the national teams, provided the national managers could organise sufficient people to pick the players up and then train them.

Although I'm the NT manager for the USA, I still believe that rules such as this should be geared towards the whole community, and not for the benefit mainly of the NTs.

(1) I think this is an extremely good idea. I think one problem that HT got into was that talent levels were dictated by teams quitting and replacements signing up. For example new teams were encouraged to sell their best players. If that team quit, then a new team would be generated that would repeat the process, gradually producing an oversupply of talent.

It also meant that players that you had trained would also disappear. Perhaps, BB could sometime extend this FA TL to veteran players (say 5000+ career minutes). If they don't sell in 3 days, then they can retire.

You should also TL fired players with high salaries (as free agents) so you don't have to worry about sabotage of NT.

I think you should consider making the salary threshold dependent on the nominal position. At $4500, you will get a lot of centers, and fewer guards. Since you suggest that the level would vary over time, you could make it the upper X% at each position.

I think you should recycle other players (from bots and other teams that are being replaced) plus fired players, into new teams. They could be given new identities and countries. but this will help maintain the overall age-skill profile of BB. The extremely low salaried and aged could be removed to compensate for new draft picks, but this might be something like the bottom 1% each week.

You could maybe map the timing of sales to the overall distribution of sales. If there are 3856 players on sale at given instant, pick a random number N between 1-3856 and set the deadline to be the same time as that of player N, but 3 days in the future (it shouldn't be much of a problem that these top players have between 0 and 24 hours extra on the TL). So the team removal can be done at time convenient to BB, but the sales would be at a time that the collective BB community thinks is a good time to sell players. Since these are elite players, it would be quite normal for them to switch countries and continents for their club teams.
