1. Should having an NT player on your team be a requirement or at least a big factor to be an NT coach?

Definitely not. Experience is the key factor here.

Although my team started at season 5 lang, I have played since season 3. With my said experience, and some luck, I have managed to become Philippine Cup runner-up and champion after just a few seasons, despite going up against powerhouse teams such as Blazers, and Jubas.

Advancing in the Cup isn't all about team strength, pero team management. Squad rotation and enthusiasm plays a big role if you wish to progress both in the league and in the Cup.

That, and years of Hattrick management.

2. What should be the number one role of the U21 coach?

Make sure that players get trained and set up a team for the future.

Like I said, we won't be able to win it all since our 1000 user base started last season lang. We need to find dedicated managers who will be willing to train their young players week in and out. Kaya nga I'm gunning for a better participation and mentoring from the community. Every week, our user base fluctuates, with inactive teams pa. If we can make them stay, and train their players, we should have better players for our squad.

Some countries, or even in HT, they have farm teams who make sure that the players are trained exclusively. Having competent players is halfway to winning the battle already.

3. Can we win the next U21 Worlds? If not, what is the best finish we can expect and why?

Not just yet.

Other countries have an established player base and it would be very hard to compete with them. The last draft should be our key to success, if we play our cards right.

I plan to get us to qualify first, then see where we can get from there.

4. Will you help the U21 if you lose? How? (Please don't say it depends on what the U21 coach says)

Yes.

Even if the winning manager would refuse to accept my help, I can help in my own way. I can mentor some teams to have better training schemes so that they would most likely stay in the long run and potentially be able to train players for the U-21 level.

1. Since you say that we can compete now because we have reached 1000 users, then we were just unable to compete before since we had a small user base. If that is the case, why are you sick and tired of losing when we didn't have a chance in hell?

No, I wasn't talking about you. I think you have done a good job winning games having a depleted line-up. But there have been instances in the past I think, wherein scrimmages weren't set, or have used the default line-up.

If you look at your line-up, Maravilla should be in the U-21. The gap between our NT and the other NT's is greater than at the U-21 level. Having him in the U-21 would further our chances progressing as he is one of the top players that we have.

Being U-21 manager is more than managing U-21 players, but laying the framework for the NT as well.

2. How will you make sure our players are trained properly? How will you coordinate this with the managers of existing U21?

Surely, I cannot do this alone.

I would create a team who will look at the draft results and:

A) Message those who own players who have a $4000 salary and above;
make sure that they are trained and their minutes are managed.

B) Create a database. Scouting will be easier this way if we have one in place. This way, we can monitor pop-ups every week.

Thank you sa mabilis na pagsagot.

I agree with JSmoove na ang U21 coach natin should set up the team for the future. A good U21 campaign will take 3-4 seasons in time for the 18 year olds to be 21. That's my first point, setting the expectations. Ang magiging U21 coach ay hindi ang coach na mag-aani ng kanyang tinanim (maliban na lang kung mananalo ulet).

On the other hand, malaking tulong ang previous experience ni Katcha kasi tulad ng sabi ni Aldo, it's easier said than done. What I mean is maraming magandang ideas si JSmoove na malabo mangyari.

Aldo:

This thread is for debating. Anybody may post here as many times as they would like, but keep away from personal attacks.

Peace!

Asan na yung ibang mga candidates?

edited some parts that added fuel to the fire.

I admit that my NT run is somewhat disastrous and that is because of the lack of preparations at beginner's mistakes... most assume that being an NT/U21 coach is the same as being the coach of the club team... well, it's not. It's a lot of hard work and being an NT/U21 coach is not all about the coach, but it's all about the country and it's community.

if you look through US, Germany, and Italy threads, they have a very solid community and they all take part in making the NT and U21 one of the best teams in Buzzerbeater. The Philippines NT during my tenure is composed by me, and two other scouts Norman Black and Devastator, who managed to use a lot of time to scout the whole BB Philippines leagues... If it isn't for the scouts, we wouldn't even have any idea about Garvez and Gabunas... the top two highest paid Filipino Players today and primarily the core of our NT.

We had a big development during my tenure as NT coach, but it was too late, as time is of the essence... that's why it's better to have a chance now as the community is more active (imagine... there are at least 20-25 managers posting at the thread now than 5-8 managers posting 1 season ago... and also, Gus has been more active now in the forums than before...^_^).

Hey, I had Mario Cane before sa NT. :p

Before sa Hattrick, Philippines qualified despite having a 200 user base. The manager did this by encouraging a group of people who will trained their players talaga. Pinongan, Mabaquiao and Madrid are examples of players who were trained for a few seasons and should be the core of the NT. If we can somehow find atleast 10 managers who can train their draftees for 2-3 seasons, then we will be in good shape.

This season susubukan kong isabay yung draftee ko na 18 yr old.

Hello.!!

1. Should having an NT player on your team be a requirement or at least a big factor to be an NT coach?

*That's not a requirement or even a big factor to be a coach,...cuz the skill and knowledge of playing basketball of the coach is the big factor and what our country needs.

2. What should be the number one role of the U21 coach?

*Acquire best players in our country,,Monitor(watch) every matches to know the limitations of the players and what kind of strategy to be played according to the players comfort and their scoring zones..train them in their weak points..study about opponents game play..(i usually watch my matches in my league II.I)

3. Can we win the next U21 Worlds? If not, what is the best finish we can expect and why?

*Yes we can!, as long as we have support and send their best and talented player to our U21 roster.

*(IF NOT) last season our country stands at 52 with 2 Wins and 6 Losses switching these numbers would be great (6W & 2L) or even better. It only depends on the players,..so send the best players and my coaching would also be a part of it.

4. Will you help the U21 if you lose? How? (Please don't say it depends on what the U21 coach says

*Yes, i can do reviews of a particular match to improve their weakness..Also a review of the opponent strategies before games..An maybe suggests what the team needs..support..
