another explanation could be that you use some thing like this sum:

a * JS + b* JR

where a is higher then b close to the basket, and b is higher a far away from the basket ... Because i don't like the explanation above in the point that JR becomes useless when you reached are certain value, which is maybe one feet away of the 3 Point line ;) Also i have an center with respectable JR and pitiful(2) JS who ain't that bad from the three point line.

The conclusion that JS is more important for center, and probadly i would rate it a bit more important even for guards.

And about that such combinations are bad, with my observations the system knows pretty good who could make a shoot, so a bad shooting center won't shoot the ball when he wasn't free, or the opposing center was also an week defender.

The needed probadly for a succesfull shoot, depends on the attack speed and the time on the clock and the abbility to get a better shot, that my personal theory how a attack is running.

Edit: Most of my league mates know my week defense only center, so i could post him here ->

(2269189)

Jump Shot: awful Jump Range: atrocious
Outside Def.: atrocious Handling: respectable
Driving: mediocre Passing: mediocre
Inside Shot: mediocre Inside Def.: proficient
Rebounding: prominent Shot Blocking: strong
Stamina: mediocre Free Throw: proficient

Experience: average

If you see his stats, he normally take only a few shots, but when he is shooting early in attack seqquence his shooting percentages is quite good - but he often shoots the "buzzerbeater" when he try a shot.

Thanks also. But I cannot understand the sum part. What are the factors that changes a and b in a*JS + b*JR?

I'm guessing then that experience plays a part in shot selection since my player had atrocious experience and yours has average.

i would say the distance.

i believe thats also a point in the rules, so you should be right ;) But i also have an offensiv limited Guard who ain't that experienced - he learned a lot in his offensiv skills and nowadays he makes some points each games, but maybe you could look a bit in his past -> (421120) today he has experience 2.
