I ended up double scouting 5 two star players, 2 three star players, and only 2 five star players. Seems like a waste of scouting :(

mayb e you get the workout termin early, but even it is waste of scouting ;) If they only scout the good one twice, i would bet you will have fewer points so that still high scouting vcost make sense.

I do not know much about this area, but If I had to guess - I would think that it might have to do with the level of your staff. Maybe trainer position? The higher he is... the more likely he will pull in better quality players for scouting purposes - again this is just my thoughts...

Question about scouting and player lists.

I saw in another thread that everyone in a league has the same players but they are all in a randomized order. So if everyone scouts one player each week then every player will be seen by 4 different teams on average right?

If that is the case then if you are a good team but commit a lot of resources to scouting, say you scout 4 players a week all season, the odds of it paying off in a 5 star or even 4 star player is really low because while all those 1 player scouted a week teams will only see a few good players each, combined they will see all of them and thus they will be gone when you pick late in the 1st round.

If the object is to reward people who put resources into scouting in the draft then it would seem to make more sense to make it easier to get the good players you have scouted by giving everyone the same list and the same players scouted if they scouted the same number of players over the course of the season. Thus everyone who scouted one player a week would see the first 12, 2 players a week would see the 2nd 12, 3 a week the 3rd 12, and 4 a week the 4th 12. And so if you put the resources into scouting you would know about players that the ones who didn't put too many resources into scouting wouldn't.

So then from what I can gather, what you are saying is that my "player 6" on my draft list who I have ranked #1, is not the "player 6" on everyone else's draft list right?

Being the top seed and 16th pick, that would suck if the team that dosnt even play anymore has his auto draft list set to standard and gets the player I want, even though he has put in no scouting at all.

I understand that but I spent a lot of money on scouting and have scouted 43 players and 19 of them twice. I figured that would give me an advantage come draft time, even though I was drafting late, because the rest of the league on average scouted 1.5 players per week per team. As it turns out I will have no advantage whatsoever because while not every good player will be seen by each team they will all be seen by at least a few teams and thus be gone by the time I get around to picking.

I guess my question is if you are a good team what advantage does spending a lot of money on scouting give you? Because as far as I can tell there isn't any.

I think that is true with the players are different order in the draft board. I looked at last years draft in my league and everyone in the top 6 got their first selection pick. The further down they went, they got there 2nd or 3rd choice. None of the teams in the first round were lower than than their 4th choice. The lowest choice was a team got there 23rd choice in the third round.

in this case you think he wasn't true right, because in this scenario is was usefull to get information about the strong players :) But with an active league, maybe with a bit higher draft investments, it could become not usefull to spend a lot as a top pick - i drafted on position 7 last season and get my 5th pick, the weakest pick in round one was the 10th choice.

But i would say especially when you draft late it is important to find a lot good players, because in the first position you usually get a good pcik and maybe just need 3 good players scouted.
