last season 1,9 Blocks in 34,2 minutes in Div1.

The season before 2,2 in 35,5 min

One of the best Shot Blocker in germany div one, the last two years ;) For me a reasonable price when he affect the same number of affected shots BUT:

(4599819)
The best Shot Blocker in the league when you look at the skill(14+, big guy skills was also in the 14-15 area and the outside skill aren't bad even when he is still more a C), who make 1 block in 27,1 min/1,4blk in 29min in the same time.

shotblocking is not to block the attacker's every shot but to make him think that you might block every shot.

so I believe Shot block can make a player change his natural angle, get in his face, make him take an altered shot with less chance of going in and that also depends on the level you face. if a player have great driving and handles, you cant even get close enough to block his shot so there no point if you dont have ID and maybe even OD since OD is suppose to be perimeter defense so equal on ball defense. if you cant even stay in front of your man how are you going to block his shot?

i have a feeling it has more to do with tactics, and match ups, and league skill
say if you center has high shot blocking but the opposing team is playing RnG and the opposing C only takes 5 shots in the game just because your a high level blocker doesn't mean ur gonna block every attempt he makes
and since the game engine tends to go for the more favorable match up, maybe your shot blocker is affecting the game by making the opposing center attempt less shots because the match-up isn't as favorable for him

and also the over all competitions skill level has to factor in
i mean when us see a us div I player with super high JS and good JR but he is going against elite defenders every night and only averaging 14 pts per game etc etc. maybe his opponents on average have a really high skill level for IS and that counters the over all effectiveness of shot blocking

drop that guy down to Div V and i bet he averages ten a game lol

It could explain why guards tend to have good blocked shots avg.

I could see it being something like ID corresponds to defence against his own man, while SB may help improve the defence of his teammates (at least equivalently in the game engine). I would be really curious to know how a high SB C/PF improves the overall team inside defence in the game ratings.

I believe Shot Blocking to be almost equally important to ID and OD. I hire players on the assumtion that Shotblocking contributes to OD and ID skills as an added skill (B-Skill) in a way such as 3 levels of Shotblocking equal one level of ID/OD.

Example: ID 10 / OD 10 / SB 6 equals ID 12 / OD 12 / SB 0

If it works somehow this way then SB is very efficient in terms of salary and worth looking at. I do not expect SB to produce numerous blocks.

No data but gut feeling for a long time.

Wouldn't the quality of oppenent make a difference in the amount of shots blocked ie 15 shot blocking against a 4 inside shooter on average, would average more blocks per game than a 15 shot blocker against a 20 inside shooter. I would say when the player gets beat on Defense then the last defense would be his ability to block the shot.
Just my take.

Right is not a popularity contest!
