The crop of players I inherited were very half baked and I wasn't too happy with them.
Too many cooks spoil the soup...
So I took over the individual mentoring of a lot of players and they ended up making the squad.
I will be brining it back and looking to get more active on the offsite forum, especially in preparation for when I step down after my 2nd term, someone who has contributed a lot on the offsite forum will do well when they get the job.

Perhaps working with the mentors and providing guidance and a direction would have been the answer?

More that everyone trains differently, otherwise if I need to guide mentors... I may as well do it myself.
Like I said, it's coming back. I did state during my last election I was removing it, and this time it's back. Will be run in a similar way again.

Hello friends
How are you?
Who suggested me to try to maybe join the team of coach - so probably will not happen.
I sent a message to Iwen and I offered him my help. Unfortunately, he read the message but did not return my answer so I guess he was not interested.
In any case I'll be glad to help scouting and tactical advice.
Why do I want?? That the members here welcomed me and treated with respect.
And second I see the forum is very active here and I think this could be improved by sharing the forum.
In the coming days I will list the teams that are at home with Australia, including an interesting addition we need to know later in the season.

I need to give it some thought.
We primarily use the offsite forum, and have never had someone who wasn't Australian with access.

I dont think it's a problem.
Probably it will take you a while to trust me. So I do not expect to get the code of your external website.
Think about it ... not everyone enters the external forum that they prefer to use the forum here. Once they did not receive information before the game that hurts conduct.
Bottom line - I'd love to help you without access to your site.
If you do not want it too fine, of course, but for order and for the less active members in the coming days I will write more detailed information on selected Asian Championships including number of interesting things that will add the general involvement.
:)

I think iwen's right that the mentoring system is a good mechanism for preparing the team for life after the current coach - so probably a better system to have in the second term rather than the first (and every coach deserves a second term unless they are a halfwit ;)). I think in the first term, if the coach wants to put his own mark on the team, its a good reason not to have the system.
That said, I'd be interested to see how the system would work over a longer period of time. I put the full blown mentoring system in place in my last season as coach (partially to prepare the team for the new coach, and partially because I just didn't have the time anymore). That would mean that this season's crop are the 18yos that got put through that system. I expect the fact that we have a decent team this season is more down to iwen's hard work than the system, but it would be an interesting study ;)

Well, my 18 y/o HOF trainee couldn't even get a mill on the market, so screw it, I'm keeping him and I'll get him to the NT in about 10 seasons time. :P
