I see your point, but a strategic change of that sort (announced properly maybe a season in advance) would not only shift the powers, it would change the mechanics to some degree. Changed mechanics also mean that you can "adjust" to them. So if you know that players at the age of 31 -can- become a risk, that would most likely "simply" lead to their trade value shrinking (to be honest, over age 30 it´s almost non-existant already, isn´t it?). So you can either take a gamble (and probably ride an old gun till the bitter end, thus saving some money you don´t have to spend on replacing the guy via TL), or you can look for an replacement when he "crosses the border".

but a 1% chanche each season made that it nearly never happen, so it wouldn't affect the value that much. But when it appears if have a big impact, a but comparable with a lottery win on a (wo)mens life(even when the odds are much better then that).

And there is a value decline, i can promise you that with age.

On the other hand - let´s say you have a player for 80-100k in salary age 32, and all of a sudden you lose him to a career ending injury in week 3 or such and he immediately gets off your payroll.

That´s quite a loss for now, that´s true, but even with the money you´re saving for the rest of the season you will most likely have at least "some" financial flexibility to replace him (at least at some point in the season).

The key to it is "planning". If properly announced, everybody can prepare, and make plans.

for me it is much more lottery playing, or giving you the oppurtunity for a insurance based on the risk and the value of the player(how to define that?). Since having the player value always as extra cash, just work for a senior team, where you maybe can have the money for one player on the bank to hold the risk yourself.

Hmm, how about we do that discussion another day in the German forum and come back with a joint solution? ;) I find myself supporting the idea of career ending injuries all of a sudden, and I don´t know how it came that far ... At least the both of us agree that the older players get the less interesting they should be for teams, unlike now, where their value keeps rising as filling material. That´s something to work on, maybe we find some "complete" idea within the german forum and then come back here when we have discussed it a bit with a bunch of experienced users over there?

I have never fired one of my players. I have released them, mutual agreement, shake hands and good luck in your new life, be it in a new team or retirement. Because I have respect for my players and I treat them with gratitude ^^

I don't know why the suggestion is needed. There is already a good system handling retirements.
The game doesn't retain players, managers do. If the player is deemed useful for someone, he'll be bought and stays in the game, if not he is retired.

There are heavily trained players who have hit their 30s now. They will lose skills but can still be very useful for some teams. It should remain the manager's choice if he wants older players or not. A bit of experience is sometimes unvaluable.
Good old players who are starting to lose skills is an important new component of the gameplay. It opens new ways of managing the team and it is creating a balance in the players "database"... and on the court too...

those superstar players that exist now (300k+ salaries), will probably play on a very high level until their mid 50s or so, I dont think that would be such a great view...

There are very few of them compared to the number of 30 years-old and + players and they are a different problem.

Why don't you put in accordance what you do and what you want for the game ?
