Somewhere in the news was written something about that they could get 1100 bucks and will add the same amount to advertise. 2200 bucks is like nothing, a good guerilla marketing strategy can get you more new user that this money. I worked for an online shop of a department store chain some years ago, they spend a lot of cash only to receive views and clicks.
And this is the point... Even if you get some clicks on the add and the few dozens of people will land on the BB-side, a lot of them will be already scared off by the design of the entry side. Sure, the simplicity of the game (and it's design) is great for many people, I feel like home in it. But I strongly doubt, that a newer generation of players could be interested in it. Look at younger peoples life, things are done by mobil devices. There are thousands of games and apps and things and whatever people are stucked in. There is no time to play an online game.
Yellow cake can be right, in the end the merger thing will costs too much developer time (and therefore money) that BB will skip it. The only adds I see in BB (as a non-supporter) is mostly about one or two specific games. That was different some season ago. There were adds of sport goods, online shops or similar. My online habbits are still the same, therefore there should be still such adds for me. It really looks like BB doesn't attract potential advertiser. In the end, It's not a question of want or not want, it's a question of BB is losing money and server and developer costs will lead to an end of it. I don't hope it, I like the game, but time has changed for such projects which is more based on enthusiasm than a strong financial background.
Cheers
