Look I don't care about this match just gone.
If I win my last 2 games and he loses his last 2 then I get 5th, this is pretty unlikely that he'll lose both of his.
but hey.

as for match fixing. I think as long as it's not ruining the experience of other managers then no harm done really.
like if 2 managers agree to do TIE/TIE then sure ok.
but if it's for example this game between dogpound and coach where its "i'll put out 3 players and play TIE and you can go full strength and CT that way you will not only win and be 2 games clear of Ranga, but you'll also knock off most of the PD" then i dunno that's probably a bit, not in the spirit of the game.

oh, please note, that i'm not saying this is what happened, coz i have no proof that they have been in discussions at all.

They have both gone quiet.

As for me I dont care as long as the above actions were not part of a master plan to sneak into the finals and beat me with some last minute acquisitions.

Not saying anything but it really was a strange move by The Dog Pound to "Dank" that game the way that he did.

As for my reference of it being Hird by commissioners and possible sanctions, I was just having some fun drawing a parallel to a matter which is occuring in the AFL

I am fairly sure it is your team, your decision. So if you decide to tank a game or even an entire season that is up to you.

There was a huge scandal in international BB competition several seasons ago when all of Europe ganged up against one team that was much stronger than the others, everyone played normal against them, mutual TIEs everywhere else with selective games thrown. There was a huge fuss made but nothing was done about it.

Yeah there is no particular rule against match fixing in BB.

But if you have been playing a full squad all year then just all of a sudden field 3 players and lose by as much PD as possible for match fixing purposes then it may anger some teams. Don't expect any favors from the angered teams later on, what goes around comes around right? LOL

I guess it comes down to how good you in political maneuvers. If you manage to get everyone to TIE you and CT your rival, then kudos to you =P You can be like whitebeard and just stay on the low and just keep winning ABBL championships or you can be like Sid Vicious and have a bullseye on your back. Neither method is wrong.

Regan's in Bali atm.

IMO, it's not within the spirit of the game, but it's not against the rules so nothing should be done about it.

Do you remember the massive scandal when two teams both forefitted games to try and help their friends? I think it was Naker and DFBS but it was so long ago I cannot remember.

I deliberately forfeited a game to finish 5th a few seasons back. I had a PD of more than 200 more than 4th, so the only way I could finish 5th was to give up a forfeit in the last game. Not sure where this sits on the 'spirit of the game scale'.

I tanked an entire season when I reached the ABBL. It was a fantastic move. Don't think that is in the spirit on the game even though I see at least three NBA teams doing it this season to try and get Wiggins. Although to be fair Charlotte are possibly just hopelessly incompetent not deliberately bad.

Tanking an entire season evenly and fairly is worlds apart from match fixing.
yes the result of your game is predetermined, but everyone gets the same benefit from having the easy beat team in the league.

I guess in the end, I put myself in a situation where 1 fixed game could mean so much to my season, I should have just won every game instead. :P

I'll probably be tanking next season. It's not really within the spirit of the game, but the game design is so flawed you're at a disadvantage if you don't spend a season or two tanking!

Ofcourse there is no evidence (apart from any bbmails that might exist), that there was any collusion between The Dog Pound and the Cunning One.

Perhaps The Dog Pound just had a brain fart.

It does happen. The Stone Slashers who are gunning to make the ABBL finals would be top in the Big 8 but forgot to set a lineup last week and forefitted a game, a potential disaster for them but lucky they came up with a massive three point win over cup champions Aussie Pride tonight.
