Idea-
Have an International 'loser's cup' which people can elect to enter if/when they get knocked out of their national tournament.
This would not be a large bracket where a champion was decided, but instead an automated match finder, almost like a scrimmage except your opponent would be randomly selected from other teams also knocked out of their national tournement and who chose to enter the loser's cup over scrimmages.
In this cup you stand to earn a very small cash prize which gets larger each time you win. If you lose you start over from scratch the next week. If you win you face another team the next week with as many consecutive wins as you.
Prizes could be set up like this
1st win 10k
2nd win 20k
3rd win 30k
4th win 40k
5th win 50k
6th win 55k
7th win 60k
(by win I mean -consecutive loser's cup win, losing once would set a person back to stage 1 and a 10k purse match-up)
etc.
This way people could still stand to win a prize if they can stick in and knock out other teams, but overall nothing that would overshadow the importance of regular season standings and national cup prizes etc.
It would be a good opportunity to play other teams from other leagues and you'd probably find a lot of interesting match-ups etc. And you wouldn't feel like the game was a complete waste of time since there would be atleast a small amount of cash at stake, even if its only 10k, its something. You could even lower it to 5k increase per week if they felt it was adding to much free money to the economy. I think it would help new teams a lot too, teams that need every dollar they got to build arena, buy staff etc.
