I have zero NT players (had one but he was dropped by his team), zero U21 players, zero players I drafted and one homegrown scrub I picked up for cup games only.

Somehow, my merchandising is still above the league average.

It must.

Even though I benefit from whatever the structure is, even I would argue that home grown talent, NT and U21 players should have a much bigger effect on merchandising than winning. It's the only way you can reward teams for spending on the draft, training players, keeping players.

It sure helps to win games dont you agree? =)

So the 5-0 start in league games and winning all cup games wasn't enough for me fans?

My good news is it is up a lot this week so I guess maybe it was a hangover from the previous season.

I can certainly understand that but I think that once you are a few weeks into the new season and you have won TC game, rivalry game, cup games, actually every game, have a NT player, have players on the leading lists (2nd top scorer, top assist man, etc) and have mostly local players while doing it, that maybe the fans would be a little excited.

Chicago sucked. Then they drafted Rose. Did the fans stay away because the team had been mediocre the season before or was there a sellout every game?

But Chicago wasn't demoted to the NBDL after they drafted Rose. I'm guessing that would have effected their fans quite a bit.

Take a look at Juventus during the 05/06 season (Serie A) and compare it to the 06/07 season they were demoted to Serie B. 30k average attendance vs 18k average attendance. And their year in the second division was pretty much a walkthrough.

I think demotion penalty is pretty harsh, but I guess thats quite realistic in most cases.

On the flip side, the promotion bonus is pretty huge. You can do terrible and still sell out most of your games, which in theory is equally unrealistic. It all balances out IMO.
