Actually I wasn't really thinking about playoffs (even though I wrote 'playoffs')but rather the relegation series. The Big 8 has always been tough with very little difference between 4th and 7th. When the market is this way, you can get the jump on those teams that have fought all season for that 4th ro 5th spot only to find themselves in a relegation series.

HC is big but Koop still may have won had Radford (even with less skill points probably would have owned The Manfro :P) not gone down so it still applies to playoffs.

Probably but Arc owned Manfro anyway ;)

Agree that it is more of a concern for the relegation series, but I think that's probably got a bit to do with the amount of bots we seem to be having in the ABBL lately - normally you tank for most of the season and you get autorelegated

Getting to ABBL is already difficult enough. Just the thought of surviving have made many given up! :p

Yeah it was a nightmare when i came up. Also finish 5th was a disaster back then financially but it was a sacrifice i was willing to make in year 1 to stay up.

I was spending 2 million plus on mono skilled 100k bigs back then. Admittedly training guys to sell was more rewarding financially as well but i remember how crazy the promotion jump was. I basically took 4 me seasons in Div 2 to get my team together so that i had enough guys tained up to promote and i also had nearly 2 mil in the bank. That along with my promotion money bought me 1 x 100k C. I rolled him out with a well rounded 50k PF and the guards i was training and hung in there for a 5th place finish.

Those were the days!

Pfft, you had it easy, back when I first started in the ABBL, mono-skilled 10K bigs cost $3m... ;)

I was under the assumption that you actually did start the ABBL!

But the up side was that back then with teams having a $100k player as their best and a $50k as their next best they would have been making massive weekly profits. Also add in how profitable day trading was and how incredibly good skill trading was and it was easy to make a ton of money. Now it is the opposite problem. Anyone can afford to buy these super players, you just can't afford their weekly salaries unless you are Slam !.

It is very funny that you are in the same league as Datzilla, whose old team is still in the ABBL. Small world hey?
