Division II Team of the Week!

This week I have chosen Nostalgia of the Mighty Ballers(33147). He is in his 6th stint of division II BB.

Mod-Bballin: You are currently 2nd at 13-3, you are also still alive in the Cup with a good shot at making the semifinals. Whats your goal for the season?
Nostalgia: Just focus on for upcoming round and try to get into semi-final for the 3rd time in team history. Not looking to promote this season

MB: You have had some great success in your sixth stint in division II, what do you think is the reason for that?
NO: Actively seeking for improvement through transfer market and training prospects (Non-Canadian) for profit

MB: You have been here since Season 6 and are one of the older Canadian BB managers. Any tips for us newbs? How much has the game changed in your time here?
NO: Part 1: i.) Expand your arena as fast as possible so that you have money to spend to buy big-time player/quality prospects, ii) Try to keep as many Canadian players as possible on your team
Part 2: The game has become very competitive compare to the time when I have started back in season 6 and many great managers have left the game.

MB: Who is your favourite BB player? On your team currently? Ever?
NO: Bryan Lacroix(9256268) - Drafted and trained by Mighty Ballers was transferred to Blenkinsop in season 17
MB: Whats your favourite part of BB?
NO: Train and resell prospects for profit.

MB: Favourite Canadian BB Manager? Anyone you feel should be featured here?
NO: Mr. Burns of Lawrence Park Panthers

MB: Whats your ultimate BB goal?
NO: To train more Canadian prospects for the Canadian National Team

MB: What would you change about BB?
NO: Add single position training at the forward positions (SF/PF)

MB: What would be your paradise?
NO: None at the moment

Division I Team of the Week!

This week I have chosen Beener, manager of The Hounds(25054). They are in their second ever season of Naismith.

Mod-Bballin: You are currently 3rd at 11-5. Whats your goal for the season since there is no more cup?
Beener: Just avoiding relegation was my goal as our division is ridiculously tough. As I wrote the preseason, the Naismith Big 8 might be the toughest division in all of BB. The Philosopher Kings are arguably the top team in the world and there are several smart managers with deep rosters behind him. The fact that quality teams like LPP and Rajin currently sit in 6th and 7th place is head shaking.

MB: You have had some great success in your second stint in Naismith, what do you think is the reason for that?
BE: Well the first time in D1 I didn't really have the money I needed to both expand my arena and build the team I needed, so I decided before the season I was better off building my bank account. I returned this season with enough money to do both.

MB: You were one of, if not, the fastest person to make it to Naismith. What do you feel you did differently, or better? Any tips for others who wish to follow in your footsteps?
BE: I had 2 very good mentors and I pestered them with questions continuously. Thankfully, both of them were kind enough to answer my questions.

For a new manager, other than finding somebody smart to pester, I'd say that the 2 most important things to grasp are continuously building their cash reserves and learning the importance of high game shape for your players. Every team that makes it to D1 has figured out those 2 aspects of the game and you won't get very far if you don't.

MB: Who is your favourite BB player? On your team currently? Ever?
BE: I turn over my players a lot so I really haven't become overly attached to any of them. However I have had a few that I couldn't wait to get off my roster!

MB: Anyone else you feel should be featured here?
BE: The managers of Genso Suikoden and Iwantham of Blenkinsop have been 2 of the best Canadian managers ever but both of them are pretty quiet on the boards. These are the guys you should be talking to, not me.

MB: Whats your ultimate BB goal?
BE: I guess eventually winning either the Cup or the Naismith division.

MB: What would you change about BB?
BE: I think a salary cap for each division might be a good idea. That way the B3 winner will be the best constructed team not the guy that splurged on a $2 million payroll for a short period of time.

And with a salary cap you won't see some brand new D4 owner foolishly adding a $200,000+ player that he can't really afford. I'm guessing that a lot of new BB players go bankrupt buying players like this.

Division III Team of the Week!

Toronto Raptors 9 Lose a Nailbiter
In Saturdays League Game Toronto Raptors 9 went into the Chip Bowl and fought tooth and nail with the Canadian Swamplands. Unfortunately they fell 103-98(52683150) and the crowd 5859 went home with a smile on their face, unlike Iamokatchessatleast. He was heard yelling at the players about their poor shape and their nighttime habits that included the likes of hookers and blow. Gianfranco Maiorano(13343992) was the only one who did not take part in the going ons(apparently hookers and blow means something weird in Italian) and was in great gameshape for the game. He was the games leading scorer with 33 points and he also grabbed 6 rebounds and dished out 5 assists before fouling out.

Toronto Raptors 9 Dominate
In what was supposed to be a certain win, Iamokatchessatleast's squad started off slowly and after 1 quarter they were losing by 3. Another speech by their manager seemed to spark them and they won every quarter after that on their way to a 112-84 win(52683158). Dariusz Rombalski(11026520) led the game with 22 points and 12 rebounds en route to the great victory for Toronto Raptors 9!

Bulking Up!
Iamokatchessateast made two moves this week as he sent away under-performing Inaki Intxausti(9299926) for a sum of 233.5k while also picking up a chinese center in the form of Wang Baifu(10643150). Wang was purchased for 281k and was immediately slotted into the starting PF spot.

Ballers Run Out to Commanding Victory!
Nostalgia and his troops barely troubled against the former Naismith squad the Jugglers and they pulled off an impressive 120-77 win(52681392). The high man was Wiktor Kreft(13621481) who was able to put up some impressive numbers at the SF spot. He dropped 34 points and grabbed 4 rebounds while dishing out 2 assists to impressively lead his team to a victory.

Aces Outrun Ballers!
In a defensive matchup, the Montreal Aces were able to outscore the Mighty Ballers. Neither team were able to make more then 27 field goals as they combined to shoot 50-179 from the field. The Mighty Ballers had stayed with the Aces the whole way through as it was tied after three, but the Aces were able to make their shots when it counted and finished on top 71-63(52681399).

Hounds Caged by Blenkinsop
This one was never close and Beeners squad was beatdown by Blenkinsop. The Hounds were only able to connect on 16 field goals and were badly outrebounded en route to a 101-52 loss(52678986). Canadian NT member Momar Maja was able to score 15 points and grab 12 rebounds against the Hounds weak defense.

Dings Last Game, A Memorable One
With a bid on his head already, and an auction ending soon, Ding knew he was playing his final game in a Hounds uniform. He made it count. In a tough game against Lawrence Park Panthers, he showed why he was being transferred for such a long sum. He finished the game on 17-20 shooting, resulting in 38 points, but he also grabbed a stunning 24 rebounds striking fear into Mr.Burns and his Panthers. The result for the game? The Hounds manage a 104-86 win(52678994) against the team that knocked them out of the cup in the 1st round.

Ding Off to Taiwan
With Beeners transfer history it was only a matter of time before Ding was going to be packing his bags and on January 31st, Ding finally saw himself sold. For a sum of 1.2 million dollars, Ding Yiu Wing returned to Taiwan to play for a team fighting for survival in Taiwans top flight.

Unforgivable. What the hell are we paying you for, anyway?

On an unrelated note, thanks for these and all the other content.
