I am definitely against limiting a manager's choice in the matter. In many cases playing normal against a hopelessly better opponent is ridiculously dumb.

Couldnt agree more. I had the top three opponents from my div in a row on my shcedule. I played my best 5 and did a CT and still lost by 20. With the two top teams now ahead, and my enthusiasm low the only wise choice for my team was to TIE. Kind of like the washington generals do vs the globetrotters.

This is also a valuable strategy when freshly promoted. If you dont want to go right back down you might TIE all the best teams and norm/ct the teams you have a chance against. I guess you could valiantly march your high school team in to play the Lakers every time, and pep talk your heart out. Probably yield the same result.

If we are going to punish managers who risk a TIE, or who make a tactical choice by setting a TIE, then we are better off deleting the whole enthousiasm system.

That's all I have to say to that.

Perhaps it is a question of semantics. If the wording were changed to say...

TIE= Normal
Normal= Crunch Time
Crunch Time= Life or Death

or some variation

Would that make it seem more realistic?

Life or Death? Is it supposed to be a Kermit Washington resemblance? Than a good level doctor would be needed.

But i got your point, it could be like Normal - Play hard - Crunch time! but I think managers are used to TIE-Normal-CT and it would cause a confusion in discussions. You would have to use three completely new terms instead of using old ones for something else than it is used now. Maybe a good suggestions for translation.

We could call it MurderBall.....or.......BuzzerBattle!

Just a question of semantics. If I were struggling with the term 'take it easy' I would just remind myself that the lowest effort level doesnt have to mean 'barely show up'.
