Managing the team has been difficult this season. I know im a good manager (my team is in the grand final of the tournament this week), but the U21 team is not getting any stabilty.


Bah, you've just had an incredibly lucky tournament schedule this season ;)

We need to come up with a 5 season plan for how to train players in certain positions so that our U21/NT can benifit from it.

eg:
PG's 2.5 seasons passing, 1.5 seasons handling, 1 season outside shooting
SG's 2.5 seasons outside shooting, 1.5 seasons handling, 1 season Jump shot
C's 2.5 seasons inside scoring, 1.5 inside defence, 1 season rebounding
PF's 1.5 seasons inside scoring, 1.5 seasons inside D ,1 season one on one
SF's 2.5 season one on one, 1.5 seasons inside D, 1 seasons handling

Train stamina only if below 48min played for the week and level is at inept or lower.
Train free throws if below 48 minutes played for the week and stamina is above inept.
Stamina and Free Throw training will most likely occur during All Star Week or Off Season.

i thinks thats a good idea but i think i would benefit more from seeing what the top players look like. for example i could mould my players around the skills of nic queen or whoever. i know judgeNik was working on non BB NT forums. these could be a good place to show the aussie players stats. Are these up and running yet?

The trouble with going that way is you end up with cookie cutter players if everyone follows the same method. I think you need to leave it up to managers because ultimately they have to keep the best interests of their team at heart.

I for one wouldn't follow the above method because my team setup is based around having a very strong Def so all my players get spells of that training along the way. Also i tend not to train in big blocks like that. I think your players become more versatile if you mix up their training after every one or two pops to give them a balanced skill set early. Then you can focus on increasing individual stats in bigger doses down the track if you want to.

Certainly having a guide would help and knowing what the NT coaches are looking for would be great as well. They are seeing the strengths and weakness of our squad and those we play against so we should be able to get an idea of the type of players they need to make their jobs easier down the line.

I tend to favor versatile players but maybe single skill monsters are what we need?

As Noodles said bulk training just isn't as effective, to train 1 skill for 2.5 seasons and another for 1.5 isn't very efficient. Ideally you want to train one skill for 2-3 weeks then rotate to another skill, this increases training efficiency as the larger the gap between relevant skills the slower it trains.


Instead of setting up a guide we almost need to assess every player individually. Rather then just tell users what to train, we need to work with the coaches and work out how they want to build their player and then help them achieve this and advise them the best and most efficient way to train, it would benefit the National Team as well as the players home Team. That way we will end up with larger a variety of players while still making sure they are going to be trained correctly.


Of course this will add a lot of work to the U21 coach but i think this thread is fairly evident that a lot of people are willing to help out. We could allocate a couple of people to work with coaches helping with training, other users could help with scouting and identifying potential players after the draft who we need to get training into.

I think Hadders is quite capable. I know how hard it is to manage multiple things while travelling

sorry to change topic but thought id rouse some discussion.
just looking around at other teams seems that there is a pretty weak crop of 20 yr old aussies. there seems to be a much stronger crop of 19yo floating around.

iv got a feeing next seasons going to see alot more 20 year olds in the junior team then it does this season. any thoughts?
