^^ Tanking isn't exactly cheating. It's taking advantage of the rules. Maybe even to an unfair extent. But yes it's clearly and absolutely classless.

Classless? This is an online game. The fans arent real. Tanking is a strategy like any other employed. If tanking were so frowned upon why dont they make it more difficult to do profitably? You say this as if some hard-earned breadwinners spent money on tickets for their family and the game they saw was tanked. I plan on using any and every strategy available and legal to put my team in a better position for the future, regardless of what opposing managers consider 'classy'. You should too

Well, it seems to be working out for me ok. I should be back where I was before with a better team and bigger stadium. I guess I beat the odds according to the above. If you find yourself fighting for survival every season and not gaining any ground, perhaps it is time for a change. Eveery series needs 6th-7th place finishers, I guess I'n just not satisfied being one of those.

I suppose it also matter what you term tanking. I sold every player on my team 15 games into a season of struggling and purchased 3 or 4 excellent partially trained young players. Filled the rest with cheap minute eaters. I believe I would have still stayed above the minimum salary requirements if they existed at the time. Is this tanking or is it blowing it up and starting fresh?

Note: Tanking is still profitable if done right, i did it for fun to play in lower leagues which i never did and probably there is a better way to do it than the way i did.

Where's the fun in playing in lower leagues? I guess it's only useful if you are training 18 and 19y olds, but other than that...hm? You know how to use enthusiasm, game shape, tactics, when to buy and sell players...a lot of lower league managers don't know that, so you have great advantage over them. Where's the fun in that, when you are that much better than competition?

i wouldn't call it fun -- i would say it is necessary.

i am about to embark on a program of rebuilding -- what others are calling "tanking" -- because frankly i see no other way. at the levels i was reaching, there was little or no room for error -- and i made mistakes, foolish purchases, not using the money available wisely, boxing myself into a corner with no future except a slow death.

i have decided to be one of those 0-22 teams that you may seen in a conference (we had one this season in DII.4) -- i hate what it does to the competition, but i fully understand that sometimes to get to where you want to go, you gotta take four steps back. i tell myself that this next time i do it right . . .

but for the next four seasons, i doubt if i win 20% of my games . . .
