Had my SF been healthy I think I would have won. Oh well I'm out of the cup I'm not good enough for the playoffs time to sell of all of my players and start over. This should be fun.

wow. magiker has just made a major move. i admire these gutsy, all or nothing moves -- it seems to me TKI has decided this is the season to make the NBBA -- or bust.

Apfel does not come cheap: his purchase prices was a hefty $867,000 and his weekly salary over $200,000. with this purchase, and the selling of a $50,000 a week PF, TKI will have a salary about $100,000 a week greater than the Bruins. i don't see how magiker doesn't bleed cash for the last several weeks of the season. additionally, thanks to the changes brought in this season, he will have to raise Apfel's GS from its currently dismal level in only three training updates -- little room for error. finally, the way things now stand, TKI has run the table to get the HCA for the playoffs.

but TKI this season has been, along with the Bruins, the league's premier teams. they have been winning by an average of 29 points a game, are quite deep, and now have this huge presence in the middle of the defense and offense. apparently Magiker is hoping he has brought in a player with sufficient heft and talent to at least neutralize the Bruins' awesome inside game. if TKI can take care of the Bruins -- the last game of the regular season, and on the Bruins' court -- then they might just pull this off.

i wonder of Solana Steve will try to counter this move, or hold . . .

among your team's many strengths is your key player's experience levels -- i thought i had you when it was close going into the 4th, but your guys wouldn't fold on the road.

i don't have any idea how to beat you at your place.

Yeah, caught me by surprise too. I don't remember anymore how many weeks/financial updates you need to be inactive before going bot (I wanna say 6 weeks, or 8 weeks?), but just looking briefly it looks like he was still making line-up moves at least since 7/27 (although I suppose he also could have set a bunch of line-ups in advance). I kind of was wondering if something more wasn't up and digging up this cryptic old quote of his from earlier this season also makes me think maybe he got in trouble for something?

You did a lot of research to my team and thank you for your kind words.
Actually I made a wrong move so my team might get into trouble for a very long term.
Besides, as the effects of the modified game engine has not been fully evaluated, I am not sure if my team is on the correct route. At least, I can not see any significant improvement of the block in my last game. (1 block happened when I used 2-3? That's too bad......)

after getting whupped twice this past week, i realized the ole' Register-Guard ain't movin' on this year. so i get myself a bag of popcorn, grab my seat on the sidelines, and pass off some observations, possibly as conversation starters:

-- the Bruins made a move, picking up an older outside man. don't know how he sees his team, or what hole this is supposed to fill, but it does give him more depth and some options at SF.

-- TKI beat me like a drum, unlike the Bruins, but i think part of the difference was HCA. that said, TKI is a very strong squad, i think one of the top two in DII.3. the conference championship will be very close, but i like the Bruins if they have HCA. i will remind everyone the final game of the regular season is TKI at Pauley Pavilion.

-- i've never had any kind of revenue from merchandising, so i don't know how much it can boost revenues. i've read estimates it can pay for a good portion of a NT player's salary, so TKI could be getting six figure revenue numbers to help ease the problem of his enormous team salary. the Bruins have no such individual player, but Solana Steve does a an all-American squad, which fans like. nevertheless, i don't see how the loser of their match can sustain their current team structure next season. this adds that much more pressure to their meeting.

-- i haven't said much about ATL, the class of the Big 8. i see them much like i see myself, good, but not a NBBA team with a DII mask on (like the Visionaries last season). by any measure, he has had a very successful season, a long run in the Cup, good attendance revenues, and what promises to be a good run in the playoffs, a manageable salary scale -- Hawk should have made some money this year. we'll see how he plays his cards next season.

-- right now, the relegation matches indicate two new teams next season for the Big 8. both Footpath and Rdkin are dumping player(s), and the Whalers and Thunder Gods are good teams.

-- i play California next, and i like that team's future. for whatever reason, Warrior has kept Anwar off our radar screen, but that dude is a player, averaging 28 pts in the six league games he has played, and having had a couple of games this season with over 50. Branham is similar to Anwar, six games, 28 ppg., but a little older. What i really like, though, is the team's youth (5 fine players under 27, and Anwar is only 22), and the fact that 3 of those 5 players are SF. i assume most of the coaches here know how such players can be structured by BB -- briefly, you can pack a whole lot of skills into one player for a relatively low salary. i think when we see California again, they will be roaring like a hurricane.
