I'm glad it made you happy.

Some people here can't seem to appreciate that *cough* Sherlock *cough*

Sherlock, I have an idea. I challenge you to a best of 7 series scrimmages. If you win the series Meredith gets to be part of the NT. If you lose, you have to fire Meredith from your team. XD

I"ll even let you have the home court for 4 games.

active forum for S38, I like it...
I didn't start the season as I wanted and the level in this league is still pretty high.
It's time to make some decision, tank? or fix the boat and float between 4th and 5th place?
My team is still celebrating the great run in the Cup last year

I second the tank motion! At least when you play me.

The red side seems to be somewhat predictable. 3 teams clearly at the top. 2 teams clearly at the bottom and 3 more above average teams in the middle.
Meanwhile for the blue side, everybody is beating everybody! 6 of the 8 teams are 2-2. And the current 0-4 team was 14-8 last year so I don't expect them to stay at the bottom!

We are off to a crazy start. The 5th place team being a part of relegation really mixes things up , for me at least!

With 4 games into the season the "preseason" smoke and mirrors are starting to clear and we are seeing some clarity. so here is the III.7 Weekly 5 Spot!

1. Congrats to the 2 undefeated teams! The league probably would all agree that PuffPuff was always a team looking to make that step. They were a 3 loss team last season and seem to have picked right up. Defenseless shouldn't be a "surprise" either team with great balance and a strong inside game. and a playoff team last year look to him to hold strong.

2. Game Engine... There have now been a couple of games that have had interesting results... we once pointed out the Baker loss as one that was a true head scratcher. Yesterday bucsblue had an interesting loss as well. NOT that he lost but to have predicted perfectly and get just crushed never winning a quarter. And that the foul count was SO lopsided despite guessing perfectly. Baker had the same thing occur in sense of guessing correctly but not getting any added defense bonus. So its leading us to believe that Predictions mean NOTHING. And the risk of predicting wrong far out weighs any benefit of predicting correctly.

3. Parity... It was mentioned before by a member of the league but WOW the blue side is DEAD locked. there is 1 undefeated team, then everyone tied at 2-2 and 1 winless team who some would have predicted as a potential playoff team. So why the parity? we think its the team structures. Blue side has some very differently constructed teams. Some with high $ on inside players and inside offense. Others with $ on guards and outside scoring and lastly some with Huge $$$ investments in forwards. makes you wonder what position or positions are most important to have high salary players at?

4. Redside Familiar faces... Its always interesting when you've been in a league a long time to see the roller coaster of ups and downs season to season. However on the redside and maybe because there just hasn't been much turnover the names on the top of the board dont ever surprise us. And the names contending dont either. The red side has always prided itself on being a gauntlet. And has always been tight races for spots 1-4 but it hasn't paid off in a league champion just bragging rights of being better than the blue side. Could this be the year where 1 of these familiar faces find themselves not just navigating the gauntlet of the Redside but winning a championship series?

5. Death of a legacy... If the season ended today we would be saying good bye to a team that has been in this league 12 seasons! They have made multiple championship appearance to never have won and have been a staple in the playoffs. However sitting at 0-4 with an aging SuperStar and League MVP find themselves debating the next steps for the franchise. what has shown is that in 12 seasons of D3 and a member of III.7 there ingredients to actually holding the trophy have never been there. the moves made have always kept the window open but never wide enough. In this era of BB and Game engine what is the RIGHT way to build a team? clearly Bucsblue has neglected Defense and it is killing them. they are 4th in Offense on the blue side and would be 1st in offense on the red. yet this team cant win a game. The sad truth is this dinosaur of a franchise may be down in D4 next season and trying to find a way to resurrect as a new younger team with emphasis on the Forwards positions as it feels like those are the players the GE loves the most.

till next time folks! this is the 5 spot.

I still wouldn't be surprised to see the Bucs sitting on top by the end of the season.

I didn't expect all 3 of those guys I listed would sell. That left me with some big gaps to fill, and I feel a little tinge of regret over losing Ainsworth. But now I have some financial flexibility and I've been scouring the market to try and improve my team.

I’ve patiently survived five seasons up here without getting embarrassed, but my team’s getting older and the red side is not going to get easy anytime soon. Every season it seems they change the game in some way that hurts me, as if the GMs see me making the playoffs with a ridiculously low wage bill and scratch their Fu Manchus deviously and say “He cannot be allowed to get away with this. The other's will get ideas. Release the electric crocodiles…” This year I was hoping to coast with a young, cheap team, but now they make the 5th place team play a relegation playoff. That may be a sign it’s time to rebuild. If you try to do two things at once (get better and stay up, let’s say just as a random example), you’re liable to fail at both.
On the other hand, with my pluck, ingenuity, and good-old-fashioned stick-to-iteveness, I feel like I could accomplish two things simultaneously -- like get worse and get relegated, as another example pulled entirely from thin air.
Good Luck, everybody.

Well first thing to my man Baker when you draft a guy train him and see him be one of the best players in a D3 league for 12 seasons straight probably just gonna be a bullet i have to swallow that he will retire in a BucsBlue jersey and be happy about it. So your suggestions of Tommy being moved probably wont happen my friend. I would relegate or find other ways before i sell him to the wolves.

As for Sparta you are 100% right it is difficult in a good league to train players and also be competitive because usually good training requires some out of position playing and in a good league you play a guy out of position and may as well chalk it up as a loss unless you luck out.

Lets just say that the boys of Bucs Blue maybe finally waving good bye to such a fun league. i will say this if i am in a relegation series which looks likely unless i am just the 8th seed. Theres not many teams on the red side excited to play me in relegation lol.
