Well there are many pools where there wasn't even single one player with potential better than superstar. So you are not a manager with typical draft experience I guess.

well I got only one MVP so far and the second best potential was allstar.
but with a couple of weeks of good training and when the market calms you can sell almost anything with a bit of luck

I would also like to make the scouting more interesting. My proposal is that you should know _nothing_ about the player from the beginning of the season. Then every week, you get scouting points according to how much you spent and every week you get to spend those points, and it then takes one week to get the results, and then you can spend new points...

You can choose to spend 1 point on a player to see match results. Then another 1 point to see the quality. Then another 1 point to see potential. And then another 1-2 points to actually see the real charectaristics as a normal player. (Of course, the number of points and what they actually show is just as an example right now.)

This would mean that you every week get to scout one or more players. Of course, if you spend very little money, you will probably not find anything interesting at all. If you spend a lot of money, you will still have to have very good luck to find good players, but when you do, you will be able to get more information on them (not knowing of course if you missed one even better player in the draft). And still, in the end, someone else might pick your scouted player, making all for nothing. (The point would be that you can choose to know very much about a few players, or a little about many players.)

This system would be much more fun, but would not actually make it easier to find good players, since you would know nothing about them from the beginning, and depende purely on luck (as it is now.) But imagine finding a very good player early in the season, and then wait a whole season to see if you actually get him in the draft. Maybe you won't?

just ignore the draft and invest your money and time in something else, focus on training and buy new players.

That's not really a solution to the problem is it?

Well, it is one possible solution to the problem, albeit not a very constructive or engaging one.

I pay very little attention to the draft because I don't think it is worth it. I do think it can be improved upon, as I feel that training could be improved upon. I think that the idea of acquiring coaching and scouting "points" is an excellent one. It is used for training in a sim baseball game called simdynasty and it works pretty well.

In the draft in simdynasty you get to see all the skills of all the draftees, so it is weighted much more in the favor of the bad teams to get better players in the first round of the draft. This seems to be the way it should be, rather than having this veil of mystery around guys you could conceivably be seeing on imaginaryBByoutube every time they play. However, a scouting points system would also work for the draft. At least it would allow us a bit more personal choice in scouting than the single choice we have now (money per week spent on scouting.)

As it is I agree that the draft system is a low point of the game. I choose to pay almost no attention to it at the moment but look forward to taking part in any new system that comes down the pike.

Ya'll just go ahead and throw your money down the drain on scouting. I'll just save the money and pick up somebody trainable (and better) on the transfer wire.

Let me know when the overwhelming majority of teams are no longer drafting fodder for Donald Trump's firing squad.

Another helpful and thoughtful reply, one which will surely lead to the betterment of BB as a whole and this discussion of improving the draft in particular.

And that is exactly how I feel as well.

I can't help but think that if the BBs read that a vast majority simply pay no attention to the draft or think that it can be significantly improved, then they will look into it as soon as possible since it should be a pretty important (and fun..unlike the whole economic side of the game) part of the game.
