So I look like I will get something decent this season.

Im looking to come between 6 and 8 in my conf so will get a ok pick.
the team that will be dead last in league has not even put in teams this season so cant see him getting a good player.

So far from my scouting I have these players

18 - 5 ball 3 ball A-
19 - 5 ball 3 ball A+
19 - 5 ball 3 ball A-
Plus got 4 other ball balls to interview as yet.

Of the 1st 3 I assume im best to take the 18 year old?

What will the 3 ball poitential mean? Salary cap wsie?
Cheers

I would definitely go the 18yo. In my experience 3 ball potential will mean Star or All-star most likely (depending on how their trained these players can get up to 50kish in salary). If one of the 4 ball guys is 18 with 4 or 5 ball potential i would take him first as it will mean a better training potential which makes players more valuable on the transfer market.

dont waste interviews on 19 years old since they are not worth it unless ur betting on them being HOF or above and even then you might not be able to hit the cap.

being a season being and all. so 5 ball 19 years old = 3 balls 18 years old in a season time.

Agreed - I never, ever go for 19 year old players. Essentially, think about how much of a waste it would be to get an awesome new 18 year old trainee - then not train or play him for a whole year :P

I have never done the scout to get all ages and are only finding out ages when I interview.
Should I be doing that?
I did the scout for all 1 and 2 ballers and got 5 x 5 ballers out of that. Still got 4 5 ballers I was planing to interview to finish off.
Or should I find all ages now?
Or should I do that 1st next season?
I only started playing last season not long before draft started.

Whilst i definitely prefer to get an 18yo's i don't think a 19 yo is that big a deal - i got one into our U21 NT as a guard a few seasons back and ultimately if you are going to train them how often do any of us train players till they cap out?

If you are training a player purely to get them in the U21 NT or trying to train them for a profit it is better to get an 18yo but if you do land your 3rd or 4th option that is a 19yo it's not the end of the world.

18 year olds are always worth more than 19 year olds however an A+ 19 year old may actually have in effect nearly a season worth of training compared to an A- 18 year old and wont be nearly as painful in the early days and if their potential is better I would choose the 19 year old.

the point is dont gamble an interview on a 19 years old hoping that he would have A+ and 5 ball...

rather gamble on 3 ball 18 years old...

I would very rarely interview a 19 year old but if you have a late pick (I had second last last season) then you can assume you wont be getting any 5 ball 5 potential 18 year olds so you need to ask yourself would you rather draft a $3,000 6'5" 18 year old star or a $5,500 6'2" 19 year old p-all star. Both are worth almost nothing on the market it is just a matter of what you really want. Often if you have done the Group Demonstration you can see a couple of 19 year olds that look teriffic. For me potential is the key, it tells you what player you will end up with rather than what player you are starting with, less than allstar just isn't worth training as far as I am concerned and I have never done it. My three current trainees are allstar, superstar and superstar potential. Others will disagree.
