Well in order to keep the forum alive & well... III.7 Daily Sporting news presents "THE 5 SPOT"
1. 3 Teams go into the last game before InterLeague play sitting at 5-1. LionsPride currently sits as the best team in the league (Highest PD). They are averaging a Feverish 106.5 PPG. They have 2 20 Points scorers and a HOST of double digit scorers to go along with them. Offense is not an issue. BucsBlue falls in at second of the 5-1 teams they use the other side of the court to their advantage. Teams are scoring just 72.5 PPG against them. Hooper falls in at 3rd of the 5-1 teams they too have used defense to their advantage. They hold the stingiest defense in the league currently at 70PPG against them.
2. Injuries... Unlike last season the injury bug currently hasn't hit the league as violently as it has in the past. At 1 point last season the injury list had enough players and GOOD players to have had a winning record in the league had those guy played in a game together.
3. The Market... Surprisingly enough there hasn't been ALOT of movement on the transfer market. Not many teams making splash purchases and no big name moved out of the league either. The usual dabbles of players are on the market here and there but it feels as though currently our league's managers are content with their teams and trying to see just how far they can go. III.7 would like to note that a couple managers still could be saving for a few late splashes... Frosty & DC are usually very active managers and both appear to be in a "rebuild/restructure" mode and both have accumulated some funds.
4. Newbies... Besides PuffPuffPass (A D2 relegation team) the new teams in this league haven't gotten off to hot starts. On the Big 8 side besides beating DC Wizards the new teams have only beat each other. And on the Great 8 side PuffPuff has pumped out a 4-2 record but INDY has found themselves in the basement at 1-5... I guess its safe to say that promoting from D4 into III.7 isn't the easiest thing to do. This is a tough league with good active managers. If the newbies can fight off relegation the increased revenue partnered with their current team salaries should make for an opportunity to make a $$$ purchase or even provide time to train a young player to be more competitive in seasons to come.
5. The Cup... 13 of our leagues 16 teams find themselves in Cup games this Thursday. The cup is slowly beginning to take shape where there aren't many Bot games left to play. Titans luckily has found a bot game. But it could be interesting as this is usually the week where you see a few teams loss their cup bids. The question always is... is it worth game shape, risk of injury, etc to play a few starters in a cup game against a good IV team or III team. to get teh 50k and continue to march on. Or has collecting 100k enough and is it time to focus on the league play? We will see friday who took which routes.
And that is your "5 Spot"!!!!
