That's why he added GS 9 in his example. Afaik there are no sublevels in a game shape of 9 so as long as it's at 9, only a change of skills (in this case the decreasing staminia) will change the DMI.

We have both said a lot of things that you are going to regret.

My eyes glossed right over that minor point. Oops, and thanks for setting me straight.

Once I scored a basket that still makes me laugh.

That's what I was asking, but it looks like you are only half right. Josef Ka is about to figure out the formula for DMI, meaning that it isn't random.

Random to the figure of Gameshape, but not to its sub levels. I have said for a very long time that I believe sublevels of Gameshape are heavily related to the outcome of DMI... In fact im pretty sure you were one of the people who refused to entertain the idea that DMI wasn't totally random figure...

That is not correct. There is a lower variation in range between projected sub levels at GS 9, but they do exist...

I have a player who has a starting salary of $5011. He has had 10 pops in skills and a projected (and the calculator underquotes by up to 10%) salary of $6810. His DMI this week with GS 9 is 54300... If there was no sublevel it would be around 65000.

I'm pretty sure there's no sublevels at proficient gameshape as well. What is this player's stamina and free throw ratings? These ratings do not factor into salary calculations, but they do factor noticeably into DMI calculations.

Atrocious and proficient... Are you sure the 2 have such a dramatic effect?

Atrocious stamina will drop DMI to closer to 9 times the salary when at proficient than to 10 times the salary.

But you said that stamina and free throws were a factor?

Dally Stacker (14844577) Power Forward
Weekly salary: $ 4 439
DMI: 77700
Age: 19
Height: 6'7" / 201 cm
Potential: superstar
Game Shape: proficient
Jump Shot: average Jump Range: respectable
Outside Def.: awful Handling: average
Driving: strong Passing: average
Inside Shot: strong Inside Def.: strong
Rebounding: proficient Shot Blocking: inept
Stamina: respectable Free Throw: average

This players projected salary is $9512. Considering his DMI is 77700, he is considerably lower than 9 times. Even if both his stamina and free throws were at atrocious that would be well under what you have stated the ratio to be. If there is no sublevels in proficient gameshape then this players DMI would be over 85000, since it is not surely there is sublevels of proficient gameshape...

9 was just an approximation. It is probably too low. I have an old player with stamina and free throw both at inept, in proficient GS, and his DMI is 8.26 times his salary. We don't know what the sublevels are, either. Wait till the salary updates and see where he is then.

If a player remains in proficient GS from one week to the next, without team training, any drops are as a result of the small drop in stamina.

His DMI is over 10 times his current salary! Now the salaries have changed again as I have had 1 player drop 6k without losing any skill. So really we will just have to see over the next few weeks.

And I know that for proficient GS in my experience for untrained players of mine have varied from around the same as your 8.26 up to 9.5 for a player with average stamina and respectable free throw.

You are right, although I believe my original point was that I had never used DMI to scout my opponents because I felt there were other factors more important. Since that discussion I have learned quite a bit more about DMI and imagine in a short while I will learn even more, thanks to the game's best theorist. One thing I have learned is that in computer programming, "random" is actually a misnomer. And while I now can glance at DMI and get a better estimate of an opposing player's GS, I am still not an advanced mathematician. As such, even though there exists the possibility for me to do some number-crunching, nomenclature still seems enough to get me by in light of the other preparation I do to scout an opponent- review tactics, review game ratings using BB-stats (which can be found here, if anyone is interested: (http://bbtools.oeuftete.com/bbtools/prospectus) ), and check box scores for exceptional players.

But, hey, thanks for opening my eyes a bit wider! I appreciate it.

Once I scored a basket that still makes me laugh.
