For the last weeks, a popup is shown every time I browse through the site, advertising for "Free Web Hosting". That´s a bit annoying. The site is still working, though...

You're not alone.

I understand the need for advertising to keep an otherwise free site going but having it show pop up on every new page is annoying and unnecessary.

You're not alone.

I understand the need for advertising to keep an otherwise free site going but having it show pop up on every new page is annoying and unnecessary.

I'm fairly certain it's the hosting provider that's pushing that, not wozz and the guys running the site, but yes, it's godawful annoying.
