Yeah, but you can be a great ball handler from a technical standpoint, but if you make bad decision ("rookie decisions"), you can produce a lot of turnovers. I think John Wall will be a good player...but there is no gaurantee that he's makes it to the top-10 or top-5 PG ranking.

from my experience of fantasy , i stay away from rookies no matter how good they are being said. if you check we havent got a decent rookie to hit major top 20 players or some on top 50 for the pass few seasons.

but i wont take away to say that john wall has a pretty good chance in the nba to be a star player. hope he doesnt get ruin by arenas

BTW, I think he had 14 points, 9 assists, 3 steals, but shot 6-19, no threes, 3 turnovers and only one rebound. Wizards just got killed by a much better Orlando Magic team.

It really illustrates the difference between a team who wants to win and a group of individuals trying to put up stats. It's the Michael Jordan effect. If I want to be compared to MJ, then I should put the ball up from anywhere anytime regardless of double teams or open men on my team. Believing you have to carry your team because they arent very good is a recipe for failure, and the Wizards look to be writing a whole cookbook.

Keep in mind, basketball players get paid largely based on how many points they score, not how efficiently they score those points. So from a business perspective, its smart to shoot more. Now does it help your team win...if you're shooting 35-40%? Probably not....

Ariza was scoring a lot last season in Huston but he got shipped after just one season...:).

As far as Wall about i think that he shows that he can be better version of Rose. His passing is amazing, (his TO too thought). Really promising player. Looks like we are on the era of the great PG's after the era of the great PF's finished...

Agreed. I tried to think of players who got big paydays without scoring much and besides Kidd and Rodman I couldnt really think of any (Maybe guys like ben wallace and theo ratliff too). It seems odd because the teams that win championships or go deep in the playoffs are all teams who play great team defense. Teams like the lakers and celtics now, or the pistons from a couple years ago. When you look at the pistons most recent championships they didnt really have a prolific scorer or a superstar, just well rounded team who plays great team defense and worked for the wins as a team, not as a bunch of superfly individuals looking to make the highlight reel. Look at MJ, who was a scoring machine but couldnt get anywhere in the playoffs until they brought in Pippen and acouple of other team oriented players. Another good example is Iverson, who could score at will and how many championships did he win? Highlights and prolific scoring may put butts in the seat, but nothing draws more fans than a winning team vying for a championship

Looks like Wall is doing pretty good so far. It helped that Arrested got traded, but he was doing well even before Dilbert left. Over 15 ppg, over 9 aast per game, nearly 2 steals per game. His almost 4 TO per game need to be improved upon, but that should be expected in a rookie starter.

And Wall's gotten better on the TOs... but what I want to see him improve is his shooting. Ugh.
