Thanks for the love J-Boy. Luckily you are winning a nice stack of coin for our punters club or I might have got offended by your comments!

good comment by J ballers, harsh but true noodles. And indeed a tough draw in the cup, I need more depth to be able to push for a deeper cup run but battling in the leauge takes priority.

Round Five Results

Well there were some amazing games tonight and a ton of upsets. It wasn't agood night for the ABBL which will no doubt make a lot of people happy with three going down.

The Big Game Results

CCCPBA (Aust. Div.) vs. Gisborne Gladiators 86 - 101 (48854064)
Bainsy threw a CT and there is a rumor that a KGB death squad has been seen headed his way. While the Russian big men led by U21 sensation Lonergan did well the star of the night was $70k PG Jarosław Garbos who destroyed the pathetic Berlin picket fence of the CCCPBA guards.

branny vs. The Winnerz 68 - 89 (48854065)
Chris Johnson another U21 legend was unstoppable playing at SF and Vladan Bacanovic smothered his man keeping him to 3/16 shooting. Only Erich Vonk could get it going for branny which was probably funny, I don't know the cross matches but he is a PG playing at SF while his opposite was a PF playing at SF.

Billy Hoyles Boys vs. Henley Beach Hawks 102 - 67 (48854066)
Non-event BHB threw their game during the week against Wombats and won this easily.

Aussie Pride vs. Coin Collectors 68 - 87 (48854068)
Massive upset for CC here with adams guns old star Christopher Sidwell leading the way. Surely this team is a chance to promote? From the ABBL forums:
Well my cup run is over. Rested my star SG against Seagulls so he could dominate in my cup game with Patient. 14-46 shooting was subpar. End up losing both games so a very bad week. Forgot to play a 2-3 zone instead of m2m so that might have helped. Oh well back to concentrating on the league.

JW City Bulls vs. Chelsea Seagulls 35 - 117 (48854071)
Another non-event. I threw a league game and JW threw the cup. Was nice to see Melmeth with LeBron like numbers 25/11/8.

Viral Infections vs. Geelong Vipers 123 - 52 (48854081)
Another non-event with severe tankage.

Whitebeard vs. TeamAkuma 128 - 40 (48854085)
Ditto.

Other Upsets

North Carlton Cavaliers vs. Harey Men 92 - 106 (48854061)
The division IV Men at home with a CT threw the division II Cavaliers out of the cup and have probably made Keyser Söze X's night as they have them next.

Bchums vs. ACT Blaze 102 - 97 (48854063)
Another massive upset as division II ACT sent in only one real player against division IV Bchums who sent in one and a half. Biggest winner here is The Victorian Allstars.

Baxter Bogans vs. puffy_jnch 70 - 94 (48854080)
ABBL Bogans are having a money making season but being CT'd away by division III puffy_jnch probably doesn't help.
Also from the ABBL forums.
Yoda: it has always been easy for a lower division team to have HCA, throw a CT and steal the game if they really want to.
Trikster: welcome to my world tonight. I played 3 guys more than 40k above his highest salary and still lost

High School Drop-outs vs. The Players 86 - 97 (48854088)
Even playing at the same effort it seems the Players had more players in this game and HSDO at least can now see if they can make a move in league.

The Game of the round

Bell Park SuperCats vs. Flames 82 - 85 (48854086)
ABBL vs division III but again HCA and effort count for so much and the Flames have been around since season two so have obviously learnt a trick or two. What a dramatic finish. Scores tied, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1...

4 0:00 82 — 85 E. Sanderson (H) forces up a three from the top of the arc, guarded closely by M. Eade (A). Scored.
4 0:00 82 — 85 A buzzerbeater for E. Sanderson (H)!
4 0:00 82 — 85 End of period.

Ernest Sanderson you have the play of the round. We salute you.

:) very happy to get the win, and so emphatically.
Probably didn't need to CT in the end, but can't know ahead of time. :P
Hooray for having pretty solid OD on most of my team. :)
Now to look forward at round 6.

Round Six Results

An incredible round with some incredible results.

The Big Game Results

Chelsea Seagulls vs. Gisborne Gladiators 76 - 57 (48867208)
Bainsy kept his promise to CT me and with HCA probably had a good shot but I kept my promise to throw an ABBL league game so I could play all my stars in this big game which made it a comfortable win.

West Island Tigers vs. Coin Collectors 86 - 59 (48867209)
Last female in the tournament had the homecourt but the 2/3 zone didn't work so well with the Tigers PG and SF lighting it up.

Black Label Society vs. Cleveland Steamer's 91 - 77 (48867212)
There is both irony and tragedy in this game. Lots of people know Cleveland's status but DireWolf may have won but he lost Aussie NT guard Gary Howorth (12578135) to injury for two weeks compounding his current injury woes.

Some teams really like to put everything out there for the cup while others feel confident. You look like a chump if it fails but a champ if it works but really these close games are a lot of luck.

Flames vs. Slam ! 94 - 96 (48867215)
Flames looked like the only team trying out there.
Lost by 2 after the CT, oh the pain.

Wagadugu Hippopotamuses vs. Home Axis 94 - 91 (48867216)
Wagadugu Hippopotamuses looked like the only team trying out there.
Won by 3 after the CT, oh the pleasure.

Other Upsets

The Victorian Allstars vs. Bchums 89 - 99 (48867207)
Division IV Bchums beats a strong division II team, wow.

Keyser Söze X vs. Harey Men 118 - 127 (48867210)
That is teo division IV teams making it into the top 16 of the cup.

Koopasaurus vs. Mayhem 81 - 102 (48867218)
Mayhem looked like the only team trying out there.
Champ! Obviously Koop semi-tanked this but without the CT Mayhem wasn't winning. Division III takes down an ABBL team.

The Game of the round

the tornado vs. Whitebeard 79 - 87 (48867206)
With six minutes to go the tornado was beating the top rated team in Australia. Yes they lost but it was a heroic defeat.

Round Seven Preview

Harey Men v Chelsea Seagulls
Well it is me so I am biased but I think/hope that this dream run is about to end. Luck I have the semi-tanking Baxter Bogans in league so I can again send in the stars. Harey Men are no inexperienced noob though they have been bouncing between division III and IV since season 12 so I better take them seriously. If the division IV team can take down an ABBL when a top diivision III who CT'd me at home couldn't it will be very impressive.
Prediction: Chelsea Seagulls

Monkey Business v Wagadugu Hippopotamuses
Monkey was lucky in round six that The Winnerz threw the game as Monkey took a calculated risk with a TIE. If The Winnerz send in their best roster on a CT it could have been a massive upset. However in addition to being a GM Monkey is known as a very, very clever player who always sems to make the correct call.
His opponent the Wagadugu Hippopotamuses are also well known leading the division III bot race last season before losing just one game in the second last round and missing out. He has also been to the top 16 of the cup before despite never getting out of division III. That he loves the cup is clear through his CT on Home Axis and massive purchases this week and with HCA maybe Monkey has something to fear?
Prediction: Monkey Business

puffy_jnch v Slam !
puffy_jnch are yet another incredible division III.6 team who currently lead the Great 8 in their first season in division III and were created in just season 16. They have some young players with an incredible skill mix that are worth a furtune so this is a new manager who really knows what he is doing. On the other hand Slam ! has an argument that he is the most successful manager of the "modern era" ever being the only team ever from season 11 of later to make the ABBL. (Second youngest is the Melbourne Goldfish and third youngest is me!). Also known for his very short but expensive rosters there is little doubt Johnno is a manager with no fear.
Prediction: Slam !

Awesome^.- v Bchums
Awesome is having an awesome season. Undefeated in league and one of the favourites to take the bot promotion first spot and now getting the other division IV team in the top 16 of the cup. He even is the owner of U21 star Sid Costello (21093284) and already must be one of the top 3-4 people likely to be division III manager of the season. On the other hand Bchums must be one of the top division IV managers knocking out Magic vs bird, TeamAkuma and The Victorian Allstars, an incredible ride and if Awesome^.- decides league cannot be sacrificed is it possible for this dream run to continue?
Prediction: Awesome^.-

Mayhem v Billy Hoyles Boys
Several people have tipped BHB as an outside chance to take the cup this season and after mllama and Whitebeard I can't see anyone with a better chance. This is obviously bad news for Mayhem who have to play away with a massive enthusiasm disadvantage. A $100,000 C and a $70,000 C is incredible in division III but for an ABBL team they have to meet scarier players every game.
Prediction: Billy Hoyles Boys

Whitebeard v Cunning Linguists
Whitebeard himself already flagged this as the toughest match for an ABBL team this round with an away match at the 10-2 Linguists Stadium Zee. Whitebeards team needs no introduction being the best in the nation (with two NT players and an all-Aussie roster he must be raking in the merchandising) but he already has to go to Black Label Society on Saturday so it looks like a brutal week. But Coach Regan is no slouch and has had a lot of success with his very, very cheap roster, but unless he is willing to make some additions his ride ends here.
Prediction: Whitebeard

Nearly out of characters.

Round Seven Preview (continued)

West Island Tigers v Black Label Society
A second all Aussie team in the top 16 but these Tigers are looking to go the same way as the Tasmanian Tiger with a date with the best cup team in Australian history. However things aren't all Dire (lol) for Bluey as the Society has two key players out injured, training to do and a precarious ladder situation in the ABBL. However how can anyone tip against the Society?
Prediction: Black Label Society

Viral Infections v Lewisham Wombats
Naker's merry band of pensioners take on the mighty Wombats. I can't see anyone besides WB or BHB taking down mllama especially at his arena but Naker is not known for doing things the normal way or being afraid to spend and may well do something so carzy that it might just work...but probably wont.
Prediction: Lewisham Wombats

Chelsea Seagulls vs. Gisborne Gladiators 76 - 57 (48867208)
Bainsy kept his promise to CT me and with HCA probably had a good shot but I kept my promise to throw an ABBL league game so I could play all my stars in this big game which made it a comfortable win.

Only two non-ABBL teams in the final 8. And they draw each other. I swear that happens far to often to be a coincidence.

Oh and Yoda. Its on >:).
