For example, my starting guard has 3 FT shooting and 6 rebounding. My reserve guard has 7 FT shooting and 3 rebounding. Yet my starting guard was in the game (and shooting FTs) during the final sequence when they were systematically fouling me.
Same thing happened in this game: (2299462).
Also, one of my big men has 10 rebounding and 8 FT shooting (which is double what any one of my other big men has), yet he is never on the court in those situations.

the problem is that these 3 pointers are coming after 2 or 3 seconds from the beginning of the offensive play. Those should be desperation 3s and should have a 1 in 50 chance of going in...

1 in 50, no. But about 10-20%, yes, depending upon the shooter and whether he can get within 30 feet. If your team is putting in its best 3 point shooters and you can get a decent look from 30 feet away against a team instructed to avoid fouling, 10-20% is pretty reasonable I think.

The way the game engine works now, I would expect these three pointers to on average have a lower chance to go in than a typical three pointer taken, and much lower than the typical one taken early in the shot clock. I'm going to investigate whether this is true and get back to you with the details.

As far as the pace, let me think about a better way to model it. My feeling in general is that a three pointer within 2-3 seconds on a player after a timeout should be a reasonable shot, but that one 2-3 seconds after, say, a rebound on a missed free throw or a backcourt inbounds pass should be much tougher
.

Exactly. I agree completely.

Also, another thing that I noticed in the same game that could be worked on is that, before his 4th 3 pointer(which tied the score), there were still approximately 20 seconds left on the shot clock, yet the 3 pointer was taken just 2 seconds after the backcourt inbouds pass. Ideally, I think the team would have tried to take a better shot and used up the majority of the shot clock, instead of taking the 3 pointer immediately and giving me 19 seconds to take the last shot.
I think that maybe the GE is programmed to continue the foul-quick 3pointer until the score is tied..maybe it would be a better option to calibrate it to stop the sequence when the team coming from behind has the ball and is down by just one possession. Then it would make sense to look for the best shot possible instead of rushing it.

I totally agree!
And the same should be done when the gap becomes too large, e.g. a -8 with 6 seconds to go is very different from a -8 with 40 seconds to go.

Yeah, I absolutely understand the problems you are having...that's why I didn't mention it before..the other issues are far more pressing.
I guess either way you go with it is fine, since obviously you're not gonna wind up with the perfect Game Engine for every situation.

so wouldn`t be solution to make extra option for managers to choose
How you wanna end the game if it`s close match?
1)try to win
2)better try to extend the game...

Hope you are still working on the last minute optimization.

In this game (4107331) the whole last minute of the 4th quarter and 1st OT is pretty unrealistic, but in particular in the very last second of the 1st OT there is a real bug. http://www.buzzerbeater.org/BBWeb/reportmatch.aspx?matchi...

0:01 Team A scores a 3pt - Score 110-107
0:01 Full timeout Team B
0:00 gets off a great pass to Andrea Demetri. Andrea Demetry forces up a three from the top of the arc.
0:00 Scored.
0:00 The shot was assisted by .
0:00 End of period.

Apart that i find impossible to take a (successful) shot from the arc in only one second, but the assist was assigned to NOBODY. In the box score of the game viewer it was given to a lucky man, who was not playing.
After the game it was assigned to the player Umartu.

Thanks for the link :)
You have a point. :)
I was not a 3pt though and I still think it happens too often in BB.
(don't tell me that there are 128218 games played each week. I have only seen 4 total this week, plus 2 overtime.)
