yea i agree with direwolf go with pressure training for half a season at least then training passing
ive found that one on one will increase your jumpshot within two weeks if you have good potential and a good trainer
as that is what my two guards were having pop along with there handling and driving
though without a good trainer rotate the jump shot training and one on one good luck with the players

Hello,

I just got my team not an hour ago. Im unaware if my starting team is better than/worse than the average starting teams that are generated. Any help regarding this, and any other parts of the game will be much appreciated. Please reply to this or BBmail me if you are willing (and experienced enough) to help me out.

Thank you very much

Wow, just joined up and you have Supporter already? Nice!

Doesn't look like there are any standout young guns on your roster so basically you'll just have to decide if you would prefer to train big men or guards.

Being so new, the very first thing i would do is check out the Manual and the Help forums though. Couple of important threads are here:

(3944.1)

Hi. I've taken a quick look at your team and it seems there are a few reasonable trainable players there.

Forbes (19) and Gillmeister (19) at C and PF have some potential if trained as big men.

Morgan (19) and Humphries (22) have good potential as outside players as does Flitcroft (22). The problem is that at 22, they will train a lot more slowly than 18-19 year olds.

It's hard to know for sure what to train unless you know the exact skills of the players as some players could have high salaries with high skills in areas not complementary to their position.

Perhaps you could take a look at the transfer market and pick up a few reasonable trainees (18/19 age) for not much money.

The best plan is to use 1-2 players you have to sgtart with and maybe pick up some more and have a training plan.

Best of luck for the future!

Thanks for the help guys. I bought a lvl 4 trainer (all i could afford) and I have set up my training as PG passing and will give both my 18yo prospects one game at PG each week. If this is not the best way to train them let me know.

Also, is it wise to expand my arena? Anything else it is important i do?

Probably most important to just read all you can for now but definitely worth expanding your arena at some point.

I'd have a look at some of the other arenas around your league or even the next league up and just go by those numbers as it's obviously different for each league and how successful you are etc etc

Alright, Thanks everyone.

Yes, I dont appear to have any players with potential above Per. Allstar. :( .. Oh well. Whats remarkable is my big man is my best free throw shooter (strong). He will get fouled a fair bit so I guess thats an advantage (he's no shaq/dwight howard).

I am trying to figure out how I should set my orders.

I have started by reading the section in rules saying that the preferred position is not the necessary position they need to play, but rather it should be reflected by their skills. Hence, I tried to structure a system of my own:

PG needs handles, passing, ft, stamina (common for all), Jump shot (reasonably good), Jump range (reasonably good)
SG needs Jump shot (very good), Jump range (reasonably good), stamina (common for all), etc

good idea? or should I have a different approach

Yeah, sounds like you've got the right idea. As iwen says though, don't forget the defense!
