Look at season 11 in league III.2. I promoted to this league after winning D5 and D4 not knowing what the heck I was doing. It helped that my D5 and D4 leagues I was in were terrible at the time. I was awful and unprepared for that level of play and III.2 was a very tough league that season. I got abused and my defense was nowhere near ready to compete...but neither was my offense.

I want to use FC Shocker for my example. He led the entire league in scoring by quite a bit and won 6 GAMES!!! That's it. 6 Games and he was the BEST offensive team in the league. FC Shocker is currently in division 4 again as he has bounced up and down between divisions because he never developed his defense. He chose to be offensive and he cannot win consistently enough to stay in division 3. If you look closely at that link then you will also see the 2nd leading scorer won his conference and finished runner up. He won the league the next year. HOWEVER he also gave up the 3rd fewest points. He had one of the best, if not the best, defenses. If he didn't he doesn't come close to finishing where he did and ultimately winning a tough league the following season. If you look at the team that won the league you will see it was the SBCT Rebels. They had, in my opinion, the best defense in the league. They did give up 1 more point than the second place team in their division however.

When I got demoted I reworked my team in the division I pointed out to you earlier. I went 21-1 (forgot about the loss as I earlier said undefeated) and gave up 1375 points! That's it! Nobody else gave up less than 1600 but myself...although giving up 1608 was a feat by the Cavaliers as well. They promoted the next season. The entire great 8 conference that season gave up more than 2000 points. As a result the defensive conference absolutely abused them in interconference play. After interconference play not one team in the great 8 had a positive PD. It was hilarious. Only two teams finished with positive PD in the great 8 by the end of the season and it was only +49 and +14. Those two teams are the only two teams that even had winning records on that side.

So you tell me where all of your proof is that offense is more important because I have plenty of examples to go back to using defense as the blueprint of success.

Jason commented earlier and he is promoting because of elite defense as well. I think you're on a lonely island with your opinion on this one....maybe a few ship wrecked souls may join you, but not too many.

Hardly, he played full court press, which lowered his defensive ratings by one. If you adjust it to man to man, they are almost even AND he was away.

You know WHY he played FCP, he probably felt he couldn't STOP the other team in a traditional game and tried to beat them by getting more possessions.

Uh, the reason why he dominates everyone is because even with a 2-3 zone no one can stop his inside players.

He has one of the most unusual and unique teams I've ever seen.

His big men aren't particularly great, but he is using 4 centers and 1 point guard in one line up, so he's able to get his rating all the way up to proficient(medium) and no one can stop him.

His point guard is also 7 foot tall!

I think his strategy is that IS is very cheap on every type of player besides PF and C so he just boosts that to get an extremely deadly team with ridiculously low cost. Pretty brilliant.

It's like we are having two different conversations here.

My point is, that other team is better now, on offense and defense. That other team didnt just simply outscore him, he smothered him defensively, and scored too.

And I think its wonderful that you sherlocked holmesed your way into deducing the reason he played FCP. I dont think that was ever a debate. If he thought he were the equal team, he wouldnt have tried a gimmicky defense. That goes without saying.

You make it seem like hes arguing from the point of view of defending his team. He wasn't using his team as an example of how things should be...I am sure he knows he has work to do to promote. His point was, good defenses beat great offenses.

I have a terrific defense...I am not sure if I have ever lost a game to an outside team. My defense keeps me in games I probably sholdn't have been in. This game clearly favors defense over offense....you won't convince anyone who knows what they are doing otherwise.

He dominates everyone with offense??? LOL Do you even look at his stats?

He was the lowest scoring team in the entire league outside of the two 8th place teams. LOWEST and it wasn't very close!!!!! He only gave up 1,065 points!! I would be absolutely shocked if any D3 team came within 200 points of matching that. USA Elite is a DEFENSIVE team and you are the only person that would disagree with that statement.

IS is cheap and that obviously is his offensive strategy, but his TEAM strategy is DEFENSE.
