How does it make sense to you, in a game which is supposed to be a RL simulation, to start with a fully developed arena, just 'cause some users want that?

Then we will get requests for developed infrastructure as well, then higher level starting staff with the same minimal salary, then better starting players etc. That's just not the way to go, plain and simple.

There are a number of ways to make BB more attractive for newcomers but a fully grown arena is nowhere near that list. That's all I have to say on the subject.

-------------------------------

Well, it appears that's not all I have to say.

If you want so much to have a big starting arena there's another option. Lease it at ~10% interest for example. That way users get to have the arena they want, not just some predefined seating arrangement. And get to choose how many seasons they want to pay for it. Then the weekly loan cost is added to expenses. Not that hard to code at all. I'd be ok with that approach.

Because what if I just started 2-3 seasons ago, spent like 6kk on the arena and next season all new users get to have the same arena for free? Don't you think that's a bit unfair for the other new users who started just prior to the change?

That's D.IV in Utopia, the lowest there is. With a ~5000 seats smaller arena and very little homegrown/domestic player merch bonus.

A D.IV with infrastructure, is not normal. This not a new team and therefore a poor example of a typical new team experience in D.IV

You started your current team in d3 against only bots. You would bet easily have been able to fill your arena at higher prices, have a higher tv contract, merchandise, etc. Then you promoted right away getting 700k. You're experience is not like that of teams in bigger counties. You essential got one a million dollar bonus just in your first season.

If the arena was discounted than this would mean many teams starting in d4 would then be able to do as you suggest.

Want to talk about what is realistic? Is it normally a flat cost to expand an arena or does it start to get more expensive the bigger it gets? Do teams in different countries still make the same level of income even when there are much less teams and competition? Does not every new NBA team simply build a full size arena right away?

Currently I think it's too slow of a start for teams in d4, especially utopia. The numbers you propose aren't accurate and your experience with your team is not indicative of others.

You can actually do both.

You don't say?

I mean I started the end of December 2020, so its been 13ish months. I've spent 2.5 million on my arena AND 1.9million on players.

But lets not kid yourself. I'm not a new player. I'm a returning vet that made it to D.II starting from D.V. (31000) This is my old team.

Just imagine being a new NEW player, with all the mistakes you'll make, because its not easy to find information on BB.

You got free stuff in comparison to the people I'm talking about and your advantage continues by getting d2 income in your second season. You keep trying to downplay a million+ dollar advantage.

If you're arguing with me, I never proposed free stuff. I proposed cheaper expansion to the first part of the arena which would help jump start many new players teams, giving d4 teams the equivalent money savings that you got.

Well, in fact the welcome message is:

Congratulations, Maristas Burgos have appointed you as their new general manager!

So it is not necessary it to be a new franchise to build from scratch.

I guess it was nice when there were a majority of new teams, and everybody was building the arena, at different paces. Different strategies, different priorities, different paces.

But now the reality is that a new team is competing in the lowest division against a combination of bots, farms, bad managers, inactive managers that keep the team for nostalgic reasons ... and all but the bots with a 20k+ arena. It has lost its original sense.

as much as arena building can be fun and challenging and should be part of a basketball simulation, the fact is that BB became a game about building an arena while killing time by having a roster and pretending you are competing.

unless, of course, you are from a small country and start by playing division I or II and thus get loads of abundant money without much effort.

How does sitting and waiting for 2 seasons to the arena to be completed is fun? And Im nice here, it takes way more than 2 seasons.

Yes, it's perfectly possible. I'm building my arena and having a lot of fun.
Perhaps the problem with those who can't have fun isn't exactly in the game itself.

I like and prefer the BB to be slow, really. A long term game. It was exactly what I was looking for.

Perhaps the error is more in the exaggerated anxiety of some new players who already want to enter the game in a position to compete with those who have been organizing the club for 5 years, building structure, etc.

Patience is the key... one step at a time. In the beginning, your opponents will be others, not the top teams.

And it's totally possible to have fun like that.

Even if it's like learning and counterpoint to our crazy and fast-paced world.

Best Regards
