Guys you know the reason they didnt select us is because they dont want even a remote chance we could do well. See last world cup where ridiculous things seemed to happen to us....again. The one before with the random red card on Guch....the one before where Germany was allowed to grab a ball off the line and throw it out of the damn goal....
I think its clear Fifa wants the US to fail, at all costs, so why take a chance we could ruin their precious game and actually do well. They wont and we wont see it in the US for a while methinks.
On a side note, dude claiming it was because we dont have some high speed railway system.......haha
Wow, and I wonder why the world at large can't stand us? "We didn't get what we wanted, so it must be a conspiracy by jealous Europeans!!!"
I can tell you that Europeans are not at all jealous of the States, and are quite happy to let us continue to delude ourselves with our "best country in the world" dumbed-down patriotism. If anything, FIFA was resistant to our government's lack of a promise to contribute financially at their will - understandable, since soccer isn't important to us, and our government operates differently than most. Meaning the bid wasn't meant to be successful in the first place.
In the face of all the ugly American exceptionalism and xenophobia in post such as yours, it's poetic that the WC went to the region which receives the bulk of our hate and slander. It'll have to wait 12 years, but the Middle East will get the chance to show its beauty - a quality inherent, after all, in every part of this world America loves to fear.
Except Cleveland of course.
