I have been there. You arrive with a team of old guys, a $1,000,000 debt, an arena that can't make you enough money to break even each week. You can fight, potentially go broke, achieve nothing and return to division II a shattered team having achieved nothing. Or you can make the strategic move, pull the plug, get some trainees, do that difficult early training, build your arena, make $5,000,000 over the season, if lucky get a $1,000,000 draft pick, find some awesome players while there is no pressure and tons of cash, then return to division II powerful and set up for seasons of success, do the bounce straight back and becone a long term ABBL team. Doesn't the choice seem obvious?

You make more money staying up in the ABBL, then trying to get to the ABBL.

But yeah it is really though for new maiden teams in the ABBL to stay up. The new teams won't know of the gap difference until they really experience it.

Its just not the starting 5 that counts, the backups make a helluva difference too. Then if you survive the 1st season, will you enough money to survive the 2nd and so on.

And then going that one extra step to challenge whitebeard for the championship who is on his way to a 5th consecutive ABBL title, forget about it!

Its no wonder many teams in the ABBL just remain mediocre and bid their time.

okay would not expect the B3 draw to come out til maybe Friday then.

Noticed you had a quite a lovely B3 draw last season in the group stages.
What happened here? (58676543)

Better team plus HCA. You always get one of these teams.

Another reason for all to go for the cup, right Koops? ;)

You do realise that it's possible to make 4-5 million dollars tanking the ABBL right?

err.. right..

I've never been a fan of the Battlers Tournament. As evident by my first round exit to a bot many a seasons ago. But last season was I just got lucky. Winning the Cup feels like consolation prize compared to winning the ABBL.

I'm still gunning for that ABBL championship, but I'm happy to wait.

You know I was just thinking about that
in terms of monetary reward, it seems to me winning div 2 and the national tournament is more beneficial than winning the ABBL.

A div 2 win gets you the 1 mil promotion money, plus half of a seasons worth of outrageous ticket prices cos the fans love you for promoting. By most peoples calculations, this results in around 4 to 5 million, possibly 6 if you get a real good draftee.

However, if money was not the objective, there is no greater glory than winning the ABBL.
I know why whitebeard is called whitebeard - hes actually Phil Jackson - gonna go for 11 rings!!

I did contemplate tanking.

But I'd like to try and stay as long as I can.
I think I should be ok to compete with my current starting 5 atleast for the first part of the season, then look to upgrade a few pieces around allstar week when I should have a lot of Coins Collected. :)

It's scary having Akuma as the other promotee on my side since his roster was around almost double mine to make it here.
hmmm

I paid 1.8 for him just last season, so a big loss, but cant complain as he was dropping massively in skills
