What you can try is to play your guards in position 1-4, with the most inside defense oriented guard playing the 4 position. Usually i do this when i want to play Princeton. Seems to work but i like high tsp players so take my advise with a grain of salt. See if its good enough to beat inside based teams in div 3. At least you don't need to spend 5-6 seasons for an answer.
I can tell you with the utmost confidence that you still need at least 2 bigs even if your focus is outside. OD is king in this game but dont underestimate ID and SB and to some degree rebounding.

I did a bit of 1-3-1 with my guys the last couple of seasons in II and NBBA, where I'd just shift the guys who usually defended SG and SF (15 OD / ~13 ID / 15 SB) to SF and PF instead. They were not great rebounders, unfortunately, but it was good enoughd defensively to keep me close enough to occasionally win but more often end up scoring just enough to lose in the 80-70 range (where my usual 3-2 would probably lose 70-60 instead).

The screenshots in the thread you linked about the analysis you did on B3 games are not available duo to company being shut down... Do you by any chance have these screenshots or the data of your analysis so I can check it?

I am getting into the posts now. Looks like alot of managers are involved here on the subject of the game engine evolution. I hope eventually the BBs will adjust the engine so its not so predictable. I'm currently building up OD for my 3 outside trainees and a couple will be 17 plus on OD. Then as I continue training my potential SF more inside skills but still I need a solid big man to compete which is fine. I like training guards more than training bigs.

Why don't you try evolving?

Why don't you try evolving?

Ummm, I have been evolving and Hoping the game engine eventually balances out. As of now it seems I need to train the hell out of a couple (2 or 3) Big men for a few season and load up on a few outside players with OD 16 +

Don’t tell everyone what I’m doing 😬

I once had a team with 1757 players and was $25,835,360 in debt. This is not that team. Join the Discord group open to anyone, but especially for USA managers to improve your club or get involved with the U21 and NT programs (https://discord.gg/cKpNkt2).

So you are building a few Big men and buying high outside defense players? Or building outside defense players? My Utopia team I am building a couple Bigs for the next season and then either buying a couple outside players with really high defense or spend a few seasons and build up outside defense for my team.
I know training one/one helps with everything but I am considering concentrating building outside defense first and then a couple seasons of one/one's once i start train my outside players.
My main team is pretty loaded up on defense as well as DR/HA skills. Next season I'll probably spend training up Bigs ID/SB which seems to train pretty fast on big men.

You can see what I’ve got in our league. Been purchasing high OD guys while training 3 bigs that are all currently on the U21.

Yeah I saw that.....Good trainees!! I should invest in a solid Center after this season. I have 2 thats been trining here and there....one has good OD and would like to make him a solid SF/PF but he's going to be 23 next season (HOF) so I might be able to get a couple of inside training seasons from him. In this game in order to be a solid team you need a couple throwback bigs kinda like the 76'ers and Pacers are going to be doing this coming season (Horford/Embiid, Myles/Sabonis)

As my Lithuanian colleague I have been playing this game since season 4 I believe, so its arround 12-14 years. Of course, few times I almost lost interest in this, but still - now Im here and I it's enjoyment for me.
But, year after year this game is dissolving. Nothing revolutionary. Forums are dieing, users are shrinking.

One good thing about it - mobile app, which I don't think will change anything, esspecially with pace like that. All I can see - promises after promises.

I would like to write about GAME ENGINE, but I won't even start...

Summa summarum - I hope for the best, but espect for the worst.
