For B3:

http://www.buzzerbeater.com/community/rules.aspx?nav=B3

Doesn't affect players minutes for the week

As for the first question, would depend on what your salaries are, but 6th spot gets at least 2 games, one home one away, so 1 game of income, versus a week without salaries, you'd say roughly 200-300K better off being in 5th as opposed to 6th?

For the guy in 4th, in liklihood they only get one away game, unless they can defeat the #1 team away, so 1/3 of a game of income versus a week without salaries, probably roughly 600K better off being in 5th rather than 4th (basically, the person in 4th place gets screwed over under this system)

B3 games are a bit like the Cup games. You only get paid if you win the game but it's only a 20k bonus for the first round. Can't remember what it goes up to if you make the next round but it doesn't go up by much.

The minutes don't count towards your weekly minutes. It's played arcade style like PL games.

Thank you for the information and also for not ridiculing the notion of a team thats still in the relegation zone, asking such questions.

I havent quite worked out what the plans for HA will be, if they are lucky enough to stay up in the ABBL.

Smart thing would be to turn over both Sojka and Galeano at the end of the season while they are both worth something and or before they send me to bankruptcy.

That would be a lot smarter than trying to roll the dice wouldnt it?

The BBs have stated before that those who finish 4th will earn more in arena income next season to cover the costs of playoffs compare to those finishing 5th.

Of course many don't believe the creators of the game and it is difficult to prove the gains made from 4th compare to 5th due to other variables.

Do you mean in terms of the impact finishing 4th would have on attendances over the following season compared to finishing 5th? I guess that could be feasible...

And the sneaky edit makes my post look rather silly now doesn't it?

I could see that point of view, though the counter-point would be the team finishing 5th has an extra 500K or so now, and can use that to improve their team now, gain better results than the team finishing 4th in the early part of the next season, and thus get more arena income that way

True! Who knows? Too many variables in arena calculation. :P

The BBs have stated before that those who finish 4th will earn more in arena income next season to cover the costs of playoffs compare to those finishing 5th.

Two problems. First this is like the Arabia Felx, everyone has heard of it but no-one has actually seen it.

Second even if it was true that you get a substantial income raise each week, maybe $20,000 a week, which I don't believe at all.

But even if it was true which would you rather have?

$200,000 right now that you can see and invest in arena seats, new staff, players for the next season etc.

or

$20,000 a week maybe coming in next season assuming your arena is very well organised.

I think every single non-noob player in the game knows without a doubt that unless you have a reasonable chance of upsetting the top seed that 5th is better than 3rd or 4th. Why is 5th so clearly better than 3rd or 4th?

An example:

These are the league averages from the ABBL this week.

League Averages from Last Week Expenses Revenue
Player Salaries: $ 613 052 Attendance: $ 498 453
Staff Salaries: $ 63 667 Merchandise: $ 89 906
Scouting: $ 4 687 TV Contract: $ 201 476
Total: $ 681 406 Total: $ 789 835
League Average Net Income: $ 108 429

So teams spend roughly $600,000 a week on salaries and get back roughly $500,000 per home game.

The week they come 5th they save $600,000 but don't get the $500,000 game income. So it is $100,000 BETTER than a normal week.

The week they come 3rd or 4th they pay their $600,000 salaries and get 1/3 of the $500,000 revenue or about $170,000 so they are $330,000 WORSE off than usual.

So the team coming 5th in the ABBL is $430,000 better off right away. The team coming 3rd or 4th has the assurance from the BBs that somewhere down the line they will have some improved income...maybe.

I'll want to come 5th any day of the week. It is clearly better.
$430k lump sum right now is better then $500k - $600k over 11 weeks.

Come on mate, no need to only take the first half of my statement. Obviously I meant it as a grain of a salt. BBs are too stubborn to admit their mistakes. So much suggestions to curb this, tanking, useless draft picks and so much more but no action has been taken so far. Maybe the BBs want the game to be run like this or they are developing something. Oh well, not like it bothers me...
