I want to say that's one odd piece of decision making, but I'll wait until my game looks better O_O
Here's my thinking:
I wanted to win this game. Knowing Wake wouldn't TIE, the only way I had a chance to win was to Crunch Time.
Best possible scenario of Crunch Time:
I win the Cup game, and go on to win the Cup
I likely finish 3rd seed and go out in the 1st Round
Worst possible scenario of CT'ing:
I lose the Cup game
I likely finish 3rd seed and go out in the 1st Round
Other scenario:
I concede the Cup game to Wake, TIE, and there's about a 50/50 chance that I get the 2nd seed. I face Heathens, and there's a 50/50 chance I beat him in the first round (generous odds for me). There's then a 99% chance I lose in the next round away to KDB.
I chose the aggressive path, which gave me the best chance of making the B3 next season and adding another trophy. Does it really seem that odd now? It ended up being an easy decision really. Also, in this "worst case scenario" that I'm in now, I get to maximize training for the remaining weeks without worrying about losing my playoff seed. Lastly, and no idea if this comes to fruition or not, but I'm now free to explore some "restructuring".
Basically, I'm happy with my decision. Would have been great if I had won! For the record, Buzzer Control (based on matchups) had me winning by an average of 8 points so I apparently just didn't get a good roll of the dice.
