If we didn't moderate the forums and encourage people to stay on topic, why would we need the threads anyway? Let's make only one general thread and discuss whatever is on our mind, right? Instead of this, someone who wants to talk a bit about BBB comes here and finds 100+ last messages about a thing that has very little to do with BBB. Of course it's linked to BBB, but a lot of things in BB are linked at least weakly one to another, so that's really not an argument.
Once in a while there is really interesting and active discussion in normally lifeless forum and it has to be stopped for what reason?
No one is stopping you by creating a new thread called whatever you like and continue to discuss this issue there, so we actually are not "stopping" the conversation in general; we are just stopping it in this thread.
