Yeah, definitely go from book 1. The tv series is great but you never get the whole story in a tv adaption and as always, there are things left out that you miss unless you've read the books.
Basically, you think the tv show is great? Read the books!

I have bought the books but I hear they are very detailed, maybe a little too detailed and a bit Silmarillionish. I think I will have a second watch of the series first (and see the second half of season one).
I just read the Hunger Games trillogy and liked about 2/3 of it. It was interesing to hear that LeBron was also reading that series during the NBA finals as part of his staying calm and relaxed uring the playoffs (no twitter, no facebook etc just books wow, maybe us English teachers do know something!).

What is Hunger Games about anyways? I've seen the movie but still don't get whats so good about it...
Maybe its just the wrong genre for me.
But since so many people are reading it, I'm guessing the books are a lot better then the movie.
Common give us GoT season 3 already. I want to see the red wedding and the shock on peoples faces LOL
