I think- and this is just what I think, absolutely nothing official- the main reason behind the training changes is a response to the community being so upset about the salaries of big men. The community has said time and again that the system is not working.

Players with ridiculous salaries have been a big sticking point on the forums. Recalculating salaries each season (another drop in wages this season- unmentioned I notice) is one way this has been tackled. These changes might, down the road, lead to slightly lower salaries for the behemoths.

If this were the reason for the changes, then what was needed was a change to the game engine. If a team full of well-rounded players could actually beat a team full of behemoths, nobody would ever own said behemoths, and they could fade into oblivion and die.

Have we seen a team of well-rounded players yet?

Once I scored a basket that still makes me laugh.

he almost beat VS in semifinals without his starting PG... also his national team performs better than it should based on the payroll of players, and he's the manager.

I don't think the GE is flawed in that regard.

That's really how it should be. Jack of all trades type players are nothing more than niche players in the NBA, truly elite guys are spectacular in certain areas and not so great in others.

If a team has a C who is a monster with 20 IS and 20 RE and 20 ID, it would be inexplicable for his counterpart to outplay him just because he had better shooting range and was a better ball handler.

he won, but he didn't play against a team like VS. Well, at least not that good.

"3. Ask Mark Cuban about the value of older players. Older players are valuable because of their experience. Why should this be devalued?"

This is a point that I will never agree with. Not with Mark Cuban's but with the context you mention it. As a scout I have put a lot of effort in trying to organize training and involving as many players in our program as I can. The idea is that the team will always be better with self-trained players than buying older ones. Now, seeing that it is easier to make results by buying old players (because training is much slower) I think many teams in the lower divisions will chhose to buy, rather than train, and what is sad and sad and sad... They will be right...

Actually I changed my mind about cross-training. I don't like it that much anymore. I will tell you why.

I have a 20y old Superstar and I want him to play in NT. His potential is a bit low for NT, so I have to make a specialized player. In order to make that work, I have to choose which skill I don't want to train anymore, and I chose Passing (he's at Prolific already).
But in next two seasons of training it is possible that he pops in Passing anyway. This means that because of that pop in Passing, I have to give up at least 3 pops in DR and 2-3 in HA because Passing has a great effect potential wise. I don't want that! In this retrospective, my future trainees will all have to be Hall of Famers...not very good.

The best alternative I can think of is that we choose where should that 10% go to on weekly basis. Now THAT would be great. It doesn't matter if we can choose between limited number of options for secondary training; can you imagine you set OD training and as a secondary training you can choose DR+HA+SB or DR+HA+RB or SB+RB+HA?

Oh man, finally!

Fair enough.

The idea is that the team will always be better with self-trained players than buying older ones

I don't really understand what you mean. The NT is better with self-trained players? The NT doesn't train players. Your team is better with self-trained players? I don't think this is or ever has been the case. Surely people will still train players. You can't help but train players in this game.

Oh, and training isn't much slower, really. In fact, players will receive the same amount of training, just 10% less in much better primary skills and 10% more in other areas.
