Last gameLess effort, 1 wrong GDP, and playing Chile on their home court signaled an uphill battle from the start. Still a good effort from the team, and we can't hang our heads after a 95-84
(34008) loss. I thought better to save enth for next round rather than try to take the first group stage.
weird stat: SGs were both predicted to hit 97 PP100, but Canada shot 4-16 and Chile 7-25 at the position.
game MVP: PF Renaud with 20 rebounds and holding the other PF to 4 pts.
game LVP: C Savigny took down just 5 boards, and had a team worst in turnovers (4) and +/- (-23).
UpcomingGroup stage 2 begins Monday vs. the Dominican Republic. A huge mismatch on paper as their top salary player is just $8.7k. Thank you to managers keeping up the great training (8 pops this week) and minute management (6 proficient GS).
Special shoutout to manager Guyana Badman (team Mayne)
(25100) who has scraped our top SG Ermis Maragkos
(35217952) off the injury list and returned him to GS9. Great outside defense training as well to compliment his gaudy shooting skills! We'll look to Maragkos to improve our stubborn outside shooting numbers in neutral and outside offenses.
Our group is:
Canada (32), 5-1
Dominican Republic (58), 4-2
Venezuela (19), 5-1
Peru (54), 4-2
United States (3), 6-0
Brasil (37), 4-2
Realistically we have to aim for 4-1, so circle games against Venezuela and Brasil as must wins. Venezuela lost to Argentina by 13 on equal effort, LI vs LI. We handled Brasil by 12 on equal effort, PTB vs motion.
We would face the top team coming out of Pool D which would likely be Argentina or Chile who we just lost to.
In other words, we need lots of things to go our way in order to make some big noise end of this season!
