well, i woke up and got shocked twice this morning

1) Spurs stole game one from the Heat
and by Stole, i didn't mean they didn't deserve it. But where was Lebron? Don't tell me he's going to do another Houdini like he did in the finals against Dallas. 18 points is pretty bad for Lebron. well done spurs on getting him to take 5 3pt shots instead of going to the rim. Job well done. Miami must be feeling the pressure right now.

2) Coach Karl got fired from Denver
Wait, WHAAAAT? why on earth would u want to fire coach Karl. granted, he failed to beat the Warriors. But the Warriors are good. They started the season red hot, and finished it red hot. Denver got unlucky with who they faced in the 6th seed. Had Bryant been around, the Spurs might not have won either (Kobe is no guarantee Lakers would have won, but it would have been a series atleast). We all know how Bryant can will his team to win (i'm a Laker fan, tho i'm not going to make excuses. We had a pretty bad team this season. Injuries didn't help, but Nash never was the solution for the Lakers). Either way, it's just guessing at this time, but Denver firing Coach Karl, i just don't understand it. They have a nice core. One that play's very well. They are balanced and could match-up with anyone on any day. And let's face it. Warriors only beat Denver because of the emergence of Stephen Curry ( was about time he stepped it up). And if Curry turned cold for a while, then they had Barnes, Thompson or Jack to step in. But lets face it: it all started with Curry. Either way, it's regrettable that the Nuggets fired Coach Karl. if you got 1000 wins, they you must be doing something right. let's hope the Lakers organisation get smart and fire D'Antoni for Karl. cause by god, Lakers didn't help themselves with firing Brown. Sure, the Princeton wasn't going to work. But D'Antoni was never going to work either... D'Antoni is now running a system that he doesn't believe in. he can't run his preferred high tempo attack, and he's horrible on D. Clippers could also use Karl as a coach (tho i'd rather not see Karl coach the Clips being a Laker fan :P)

btw, did anyone see the tweets from Quincy Pointdexter after the conference finals vs Spurs?

LeBron got a triple-double and you're asking where he was? Come on man.

Instead congratulate the Spurs. They are a star team that know how to win basketball games.

Spurs did a heck of a job. no denying that. And Lebrons Tripple Double isn't bad either. It's just that 16 points for someone who averages 29 points per game in the Conference finales is kinda a dissapointment. tho his 18 rebounds are monstrous!

Spurs have got the statistics to back em up as champs now. 71% of the teams who win game 1 in the finales win the title. Well, atleast it shows that this might not be the one sided affaire that i feared for.

I really think that cole or James should be guarding Parker all game. They need to get the ball out of his hot hands

Cole and James were guarding him. Didn't you see TP9's blow past Cole for that sweet spin layup?
Or TP9's trip and fakeout of Lebron to nail the dagger with 5 seconds to go?

GO SPURS!

I think it'd be a good time to remind you when the Heat beat the Thunder 4-1 after they won the first game and how they beat the Bulls after they won the first game. And Tony Parker hit an amazing shot and in that particular case, he's not gonna hit that every time round.

Granted. This will be a series. But never ever consider the Miami Heat down and out. And this is coming form a Suns fan not a heat bandwagoner. So I ain't one to care about probability especially when Wizards jumped to the 3rd spot in this uears draft >.<

Sorry for any typos, im on my phone.

1. Spurs never stole game 1 from the Heat. They played well and got the win. If by stole game 1 meaning they stole home court advantage then yeah but by no means did they steal game 1. Spurs are a well drilled side and they have been to and won the finals many times before.

2. George Karl was sacked because he wanted a 3 year contract extention which the Nuggets would not commit to given his age and recent surgery. He has 1 more year on his contract and the Nuggets were afraid Karl might cause trouble from being disgruntled is he coached next season. So the Nuggets made a pre-emptive move before any problems can progress further.

Its funny how many Coaches of the Year get fire after winning the award. 3 or 4 times so far in the last 10 seasons:

2005–06: Avery Johnson, Dallas Mavericks, 60–22 (Fired April 30, 2008)
2006–07: Sam Mitchell, Toronto Raptors, 47–35 (Fired December 3, 2008)
2007–08: Byron Scott, New Orleans Hornets, 56–26 (Fired November 12, 2009)
2008–09: Mike Brown, Cleveland Cavaliers, 66–16 (Fired May 24, 2010

my stole was aiming towards the HCA. in my post, i stated that it wasn't as if the Spurs didn't deserve to win:

i agree on the statement concerning Lebron guarding Parker.

And i know about the Thunder/Heat. Still, stats are that if you win game one, there is a 71% chance that you'll win the finals. Game 2 will be instrumental. if you lose twice on your own court, then it's gonna be hard. Let's wait and see. If the Heat lose, that could burst their bubble of having multiple championships. Then again, i don't like Duncan. Never liked him as a player, and the fact that i'm a Laker fan means i'd prefer the Heat over our 'hated' rivals (the Spurs).

Either way, should be interesting to see what Spoelstra can do. let's see if he can match up against Pop or if he's totally clueless.

Funny how now that the spurs won game one people are giving them some respect, they pretty much steamrolled the far stronger western conference and people were saying they would be swept or lose in 5. They are a big side which the heat have big problems with because guys like wade and lebron who are great slashers find it a lot harder once getting in the lane to get their shots over multiple seven footers and are forced to shoot more jumpers. Lebron blamed the loss on being tired from a big series with the pacers yet after game one against the bulls which they lost he blamed the long layoff after round one. I think it's more to do with the fact that they don't always try until their backs are against the wall, they came back from 20 to 30 points down plenty of the times throughout the season against crap teams, most sides would have lost these games but the heat have a gear no one else can get to which is why they will eventually win probably in 7. They have now made it very hard for themselves with the shitty 2-3-2 format they have in the finals, San Antonio will be saying to themselves that this series isn't heading back to south beach after game two. It all makes for a very interesting series.

Heat got a great run going in the 3rd and slapped the spurs like they should have in game 1.

Heat 4-1!
