Same here, the OOOOOORANGATAN didn't get quite so lucky with a tough first round. :P

I would like to throw another one out here, who on the red conference is going to step up this season, no longer the Blaze-MM-Be high era with Be high seemly having done nothing to improve his team.. Sammy Dog has made some purchases, some seemingly odd, maybe Zed??

Hello!

There is a mentoring program run by ABBL managers. Let me know if you'd like to sign up..

Some of the best teams in this division have had mentoring, it's great to see them always knocking on the promotion door.

Some?

Basically all the top teams bar 2 are in the fishbowl where the mentoring is extreme.

Hey Skyhook,

Just on the following points you made:

2) I have successfully hired a cheaper PR manager and working on signing a much cheaper trainer.

3) Unfortunately I don't have the funds to upgrade my stadium to an acceptable level but the money I'm going to save each week on staff wages etc. I'll put towards upgrading my arena each week. I just discovered the 18yr old player I stupidly bid on for $100k (seems no-one else is going to bid on him) is probably not going to end up getting trained as I'll be training Pressure for my PG and SG... NOOOOB!!! :(

4) Here are the ratings for those three:

Perenera (PG)

DMI: 7200
Age: 22
Height: 6'0" / 183 cm
Potential: superstar
Game Shape: respectable

Jump Shot: awful Jump Range: average
Outside Def.: average Handling: average
Driving: average Passing: respectable
Inside Shot: atrocious Inside Def.: average
Rebounding: atrocious Shot Blocking: atrocious
Stamina: proficient Free Throw: average

Experience: atrocious

Gillespie (PG)

DMI: 6600
Age: 20
Height: 6'4" / 193 cm
Potential: perennial allstar
Game Shape: respectable

Jump Shot: inept Jump Range: mediocre
Outside Def.: respectable Handling: mediocre
Driving: respectable Passing: average
Inside Shot: respectable Inside Def.: pitiful
Rebounding: inept Shot Blocking: pitiful
Stamina: inept Free Throw: awful

Experience: atrocious

Lia (SG)

DMI: 10800
Age: 22
Height: 6'3" / 190 cm
Potential: MVP
Game Shape: respectable

Jump Shot: respectable Jump Range: respectable
Outside Def.: mediocre Handling: awful
Driving: pitiful Passing: atrocious
Inside Shot: mediocre Inside Def.: mediocre
Rebounding: awful Shot Blocking: awful
Stamina: proficient Free Throw: inept

Experience: atrocious

I'm strongly considering training Pressure for PG and SG. Also, to my dismay, I discovered on the Training Guides that you should never ever train team training for things like Jump Shot etc, which I basically spent all year doing last year..... :/

I definitely have some experience in these sort of fantasy games as I've been playing Battrick, GoalUnited and Sundayleague (not anymore) for quite some time, and more recently NBA fantasty. I do enjoy this format and you get a greater sense of belonging and achievement whilst building a squad over many years :)

Cheers for all the great advice!

Hey Mate,

Good to see you trying to improve your team :-)

Note: When trying to improve your arena don't try and get it all done in one hit, but you can improve it over the entire season or 2 seasons. Because you have been promoted you are going to get a boost in spectators for the first season so you can increase ticket prices a little bit.

The one important tip with arena's is: If you are hitting maximum capacity every game YOUR PRICES ARE TOO LOW.

In terms of training, the important thing to remember is: ONE POSITION TRAINING IS A LOT QUICKER THAN TWO POSITION.

You can train 3 people on one position training per week. It means you have to decide which games you will kind of throw away but it is possible. Play Player 1 with no Reserve, than repeat for player 2 and player 3 etc,

Hope this helps

Neeber

Good stuff Stazza! Nice to see you have transfer listed some players, just remember if they dont sell to fire them pretty much straight away.

Training both PG and SG has its advantages and disadvantages..

Advantage : You can fully train 6 players per week, building both your starting and bench players at the same time.

Disadvantage : Takes alot longer to train 2 positions than just 1.

I would say this, if you dont have 6 players worth training, just single position train. Maybe do 2 pos training for 1-2 weeks just to get your head around it a bit more, but then definitely move to 1 pos training.

Everyone else in this league is really polite. I am not. Those 3 "trainees" are rubbish. You have to be tough. Sell them or when no-one else out of the 64,000 players will be willing to buy them, sack them.

Perenera 22 too old to train, can't shoot and atrocious skills everywhere. Rubbish.
Gillespie 20 also can't shoot is better but not by much.
Lia 22 too old to train and can't drive, handle and really really can't pass.

Good news is this is the best time of the season to get a new trainee. I think for less than $20,000 each you could pick up 3 guys better than them and never regret it.

I know this may seem rude me saying they are rubbish. But they are.

As for PR, mine costs me 6k a week, I wouldn't pay much more than double that at most, they are supposed to make you money not lose it.

Level 4 trainers are a dime a dozen and you should be able to get one under 20k a week. Mine is 18k and I am already looking at flipping him.

Neeber is right, build your stadium, stadium = money!

I have been playing since season 12 and had to learn all this through lots of mistakes, you are lucky with all the helpful guys in this league.

1 more tip. If you are looking for guard trainees set these parameters - but don't overbid my guy!

JS, JR, OD and PD minimum inept.
Height max 6'5"
Potential all star or more
Age 18 or 19.
Salary $3500.
Current bid $100,000.

There are currently 652 guys like this for sale. Get 3.

I'd say anything under Superstar potential is a waste of time.

Perennial Allstar is fine, but cap at around 70k.

I hear some of you say "Well Iwen, they'll get too expensive and he'll have to sell them".

Yes, maybe, one day.

But by buying higher potential players, you give yourself the ability to ride those players abilities as they get better, all the way through to the ABBL.

Look at Shaun McArthur (12525988). I bought him for $3.7m when he was 19, and a 20k salary (when he turned 20).
I bought Duong Ton (13946406) about half a season later, aged 20, who has been on the same training plan since. He's almost capped now, otherwise he'd be around 100k in salary.

My point is, if you buy Allstar potential, yes that's fine for where you are now, but what about the long run? When All-star caps out at 40-50k, is that player enough to help you win Division II?

If not, then what?

You'll need to sell and start all over again...

Allstar certainly won't help you in ABBL.

Think long term strategy.. and you'll be awesome sooner rather than never!

Well I've just bought 2 very important pieces for my teams future.
Dave Lambert MVP, you will come to know him as "The DL" He will fit in nicely with my training plan for "The Great Wall". And i desperately needed a 3rd proper trainee. Yes he's 19 but his starting stats are stupendous for what I'm looking for in the coming seasons.

also got my arena up to the perfect number of 12345, consisting of 11111 bleachers :P

I wont be spending any more cash this season. Same old consistent Rangas

I would expect that my season is going to be very hit and miss as I'm likely to be playing my 3 trainees for 48 minutes single position for most of it with some 1on1 thrown in for good measure.

Good luck to everyone for season 17, predicting the beasts to promote.
