Lakers wont make the playoffs and I'm almost 100% sure that at least one star player for one of those top 5 is going to get injured towards the end of the season, because it always happens. The nuggets placed above the Grizzlies last year as well and I believe they can easily get more wins than them again this season.

Yea, my mistake. Was a little inebriated and not thinking clearly. Josh was probably the best defender on Atl which was he 10h best D last year. However, his offense is the issue. He was the worst on he team affording to advanced stats and actually had negative off win shares for the year. The issue is with his efficiency...he shoots .300 on threes but jacks them up like its his prerogative and shoots way too many long jumpers. Detroit could be tough with Smith/Monroe/Drummond, but only if Smith plays smart.

As for the cavs, I hink people are selling Mike Brown and the team short. Mike can teach Defense. This team is a playoff team with above average defense. Kyrie is better than Jrue and lightyears ahead of Calderon, for the record. Especially if he starts playing some D.

Irving/Jack/Waiters at the Guards
Gee/Clark at SF
Thompson/Bennett
Varejao/Bynum/Zeller

That team is dangerous if healthy and deep enough to handle some injuries. Bynum is just icing on the cake if he can give 20 minutes a night or so. People forget how well Varejao played before he injury last year...having the luxury to monitor his/bynums minutes will help.

Your a big cava fan? Then tell me who will start over Bennett at the Forward spot. They have Thompson but he is a PF and Bennett will probably be playing SF. The only reason they wouldn't start him is if for some dumb reason they put Thompson at the SF spot, Varejao at the PF, and Bynum at the Center. Thompson can't hit a 3 though, so if that we're to happen I think Thompson would come off the bench.

Anthony Bennett will be a 7th or 8th man off the bench this season. I doubt he will outplay Tristan at the 4 to get starter time. Jack is the 6th man and Varejao will be 7th. Clearly, Bennett will not be a career bench player, but it is a testament to the new found depth that a 1st pick will come off the bench.

We could really use a SF, though. Can't have Gee/Clark be the rotation and expect to get anywhere.

*sigh* who do you think will start at SF then? Alonzo Gee? Bennet is debatably the best SF they have and they probably want to start him to develop him along with their other young players. The one other possibility is to put him as a backup forward behind Gee and Thompson, but I personally think he is more skilled than Gee. I see something like this:

Kyrie Irving (Jarrett Jack)
Dion Waiters (Daniel Gibson?)
Anthony Bennet (Alonzo Gee)
Tristan Thompson (Earl Clark)
Andrew Bynum (Anderson Varejao)

No need to sigh. Chris Grant and Mike Brown have stated on multiple ocassions that they view Bennett as a 4 and he will receive minutes there exclusively his rookie year to lessen the learning curve.

Either Alonzo Gee or Earl Clark will start at the 3 this year. I have to imagine it will be Gee because Clark is an almost ideal running mate with Bennett in the second line. Clark is a defensive 3 and offensive 4 while Bennett projects opposite.

The lineup to start the season will most likely be:

Irving / Jack
Waiters / Miles
Gee / Clark
Thompson / Bennett
Varejao / Zeller

With Bynum bumping Varejao/Zeller when/if he is healthy. He still can't run the length of the court...hopefully he will be able to eventually.

hmmm I've heard different things from random sources, but I'm not local to the area and don't follow them that closely, so I'll believe you ;) Thanks for the insight. +1
