Well that sucks. I hope they plan on introducing something like that down the line, or they might as well get rid of height entirely, especially since they just reduced the training modifier.

It's not very realistic that a guy who's 7'0 would have the same chance to score on a guy who is 6'0 as a guy who is 7'0.

Then again, I wouldn't want the game to become completely dominated by height either, so I guess it's a give and take situation.

2) The height modifier to training will be reduced, particularly for jump shooting.

DISCLAIMER: This is completely unofficial and strictly a guess by me backed by no credible info or data

I think that hits the nail on the head. It's probably extremely difficult to incorporate height into the GE without it becoming a dominant factor.

Yeah, incorporating height into training potential and ignoring it in the GE is an elegant solution to the difficulty of incorporating height in the simulation, really. I think as players get trained to higher levels, the elegance of it all will be even clearer.

It does make sense but it kind of stinks because I think it would be really cool to have a bunch of really tall guards launching 3s, but if there's no advantage whatever to doing it, then I probably won't. Not to mention that I'll always be thinking "why aren't you nailing that shot, you're 7 feet tall!"

I think eventually, most teams will consist of trained players -- and the 7 footers will have superior rebounding and inside defense than the 6 footers (because frankly nobody is going to waste their valuable training time training a 6 footer in rebounding). Likewise you're not going to be able to train a 7 footer to the necessary skill levels to be an effective point guard.

At least, that's the goal I think BB is aiming for. Whether is achievable, is another question.

Meanwhile, its encouraging to know that a 5'9" guy like myself could compete with 7'2" in BB provided my skill set is good enough: "Steve fakes lefts and drives the lane. From the foul line he launches himself and dunks over Yao Ming!" Time to ask for that contract extension!

I would love to know which skills are influenced by tall players and vice versa which are influencesd by small players.
Unfortunately nothing is written in the rules.

from my real life understanding i would say tall players train faster in IS, ID, SB and Reb. Small players train faster in handling, outs. Def and passing.
From the news I would interpret that BBs make small players train slightly faster in JS and JR.
but what about Driving. In real life I would say a 6´6'' player is best for driving.

this leads me to my next question. is the height modifier linear?
Does a 5´player train even faster than a 6´player in handling? In real life it would not make a difference, i would say. however it would make a difference in terms of rebounding.

any thoughts on this topic? does everyone aggree to this? Any other thougts are highly appreciated. Anymore thoughts of how they have programmed it?

I wouldn't be so sure about JS. JS is a required skill for forwards (or at least they are classified on the basis of having a good JS). And tall guys might not have to jump as high to get the shot off.
