It could be worse. I played at least one game where if you paid real life money for certain things it gave you a direct in-game advantage (for example: faster training). Sure, you could get some credit by doing what was essentially free advertising for the game, but it never amounted to much (plus this kind of mini-game is really silly, at least in my opinion).
To me, it seemed silly to have to pay to do well in the game. I personally think the BB model is the best. Complain all you want, but even if you do not buy supporter you can still advance to the top of the game.
