Why is it dumb? People overpay for potential, so he could get good money for the superstar potential trainee he posted above. He is in div 5, he doesn't need a player with superstar potential, if he got someone with Star potential with better initial stats then it would help his team straight away. And he can still train the player for a long time without hitting the cap. And if he got a player with high potential then he won't be able to train the player to its fullest potential anyway because he is in div 5 and won't be able to afford the salary.
