yeah and 6 times would be 3m for me(6* 500k), i think that is to much when they still should have a chanche to catch up. Maybe the same bonus for all PO teams work,

Well if you get 3 million, then second place gets 500k x 5 which is 2.5 million. 500k isn't that big of an advantage. And you deserve it for coming first.

Double your franchise value and all the teams with a stronger franchise will just pull ahead even further....

Ah, yes. The unending debate on 5th place... My team is in one of those "best to tank the last game" situations, and it is noted our league forum. Given the number of posts this one issue takes up in the forum, I'm a believer that one day something will happen to change the current situation.

I have some time ago suggested that the 5th place teams would always swap conferences for the following season. This would both make 5th place more interesting (either more desirable or even more hated depending on the current balance between Big 8 and Great 8) and introduce a new mechanism for refreshing the league without affecting the rivalries too severely. I think this type of change could help keep the leagues more competitive (balancing the level of teams between the conferences) than some sort of monetary awards.

IMHO currently the order of best positions to end a season are:

If your conference is stronger than the opposite:
1-2-6-3-4-7-5-8

If your conference is weaker:
1-2-6-3-4-5-7-8

If the 1st placed in your conference is far stronger than the other teams:
1-6-2-3-4-5-7-8
(my case; fortunately I've managed to assure 6th place in my conference losing some strategic games like this (22999647)and so I won't face much financial trouble during mid-season).

Swaping 5th places is a great suggestion.

I think I agree, except I'd probably never want 7th place, even against a weaker 6th place team in the other conference. Winning on the road, dumb luck, injuries... too much risk, too much income the following season at stake to give up for just one extra game of training and 2 or 3 games of shared ticket revenue. I'd also rather have 2nd place in all instances than 6th since that spot still gets 2 playoff games (assuming a home win) and a better Fan Survey rating that carries into the following season than 6th would have.

If you are really much more stronger than your adversary, risking something you can do 3 playouts game, and if you are 6th you have 2 home incomes

Surely,if you can be 2nd in your league is better, but if your team can't go beyond the 4th place with no chance to beat the first 6th and sometimes 7th became more attractive

Since I am mentioned here in this thread and I am one of the two team who didnt set a lineup in this game I will add my 2 cents. I opened a very similar thread about this problem a few weeks ago. If you are interested... have a look at it ((154889.1)).

The conclusion I found the best, is to cut the salarys during the off-season. As long as you have a competetive games during a week you have to pay full salarys. If you dont have any competetive games you pay half the salarys to your players. At least in my case this would change my priority list from 1->2->6->7->3->4->5->8 to 1->2->3->4->5->6->7->8. I dont know if this is the case for other players but for me this seems to be a reasonable solution to this problem.
