a successful team must have balance as to minimize any weaknesses for opponents to exploit.

I understand Zone defense is created for that purpose of balancing but for many reasons such as possible injuries and game shapes fluctuations, Team 1 is less risky and better.

I'm not concerned about the ratings as much as the effectiveness, which I guess go hand in hand. Would the calculations take the total points of the two inside players or would each individual matchup matter? I'm asking because next season I am planning on buying a great big with high ID - my current PF is only a 30k player but I started with him and would like to keep him involved in the action for as long as possible. I know the 15/15 ID would be less risky but would it allow any less points that the 20/10 situation?

if play against
1, IS15 X2 then ID15X2 is better
2, one IS10 + IS20 then 2-3 zone with ID 20 in the middle is better

a 20 ID guy would cost a lot to have. And if his salary was to be rather low it would be at the cost of all the other skills. One with 15 ID and then higher in the other skills to will be a lot more effective player. Unless you just want one that can defend.
Since the GE works on matchups of player vs player the 10 ID player would be the weak link in the defense. and if he gets more matchups against him then the 20 ID player it may lead to you losing the game. If you set up a 15-15 ID defense you wont stop em as well as with a 20 ID guy. But the all around performance in defense will be better.
